What's goin on?

I saw an article in the Wiki on installing flushmount turn signals on the GS500F, but no mention of brands/models that people have had success with. The few I found on motorcycle superstore did not seem directly compatible with our bikes. I'm trying to do this the most simple way possible (other than leaving the stock blinkers on). My bike's a 2008.

Thanks in advance.

You can be the first to mention the brand of flush-mount turn signals that work on your bike.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

good judgement trumps good skills every time.

No one even knows the name of the ones pictured in the mounting tutorial?

There's no way I could be the first person to do this...

Any of the universal flushmounts(http://images.canadianlisted.com/nlarge/flush-mount-signal-lights_4483034.jpg) should work.they install with two screws. The way I did it was to cut the back screw flush with the backside on the turnsignal. Then I drilled one hole in the stock spacer(where the original install). The turn signal is wide enough to hold the spacer to the fairing. This way it is completely reversible and the only hole will be covered by the stock signals if u put them back on.

Just thought of something...if I were to get two sets it would be easy enough to just drill holes in the tail and mount some there as well right?

Or is it better to just get the integrated taillight?

Integrated tail light: person behind you has a hard time telling which way you're turning.
DOT requires turn signals be at the same height and be separated by 9 inches.

Think about it: which is easier to see which way you go:
1. A tail light that flashes orange. Stopping? Turning? WTF? Turn signals interfere with the stop light. Are you braking or what?
2. A red tail light with an orange turn signal a couple inches left of it and right of it. Easy to see stop light AND turn signals flashing at the same time.

Think safety. Think the cager behind you is texting, eating, putting on makeup and has a dog on the lap, oh, and a crying baby not in a car seat. Make it as easy as possible for her to see you and know what you're going to do.

Excellent- thanks for all the responses guys...

I think I found some on motorcycle-superstore.com. For some reason they weren't showing up in my earlier searches.

I'll be measuring the back of my bike to see where 9 inches is before doing any drilling in the back, that's for sure.

Although, when I last got it inspected the guy said "sit on it and pretend we're doing something. OK, that'll be $20".   :thumb:

J Walker-

Where are those mounted? Are they on the body, or are the on the fender itself...tough to see in the dark.

Appreciate you making a video just for the purpose of this thread.

You may never get hassled for not having legal turn signals. Some cops only care if you have something. Then you can get one on a bad day, you having done something to catch his attention, then get hit with a "certificate of achievement".
If there were an accident and an argument was that you didn't signal, non-DOT standard turn signals could cost you the case.
If you can stay legal, you also make yourself more visible. Integrated are not a problem if you have side mounted turn signals. I find when behind someone, the integrated detract from the brake light.
I was behind one bike with itsy bitsy LED turn signals. Pretty much a tiny bright point of light. Something blinked, but couldn't really say it was a turn signal. With that, some turn signals can look cool and be cute except they don;y do much as a turn signal.
Call me a geezer if you want - I like to be seen on the road (I haven't reached the point wearing an orange reflective vest. maybe when I'm a few years older.)
Mounted on your side plastics should be 9" or close enough.
