Took me awhile to get the pics but here is the pink scooter.  Sorry, no pic of the rider; she is a mean one.  Actually a pretty cool scooter, as scooters go.

Couple more pics here...http://imgur.com/a/ihpBn

Scooters are fun.

That's how I ended up buying a GS. I walked in to look at scooter (not pink) and found the Suzuki sale going on. For a couple hundred dollars more I got the GS and can take it on the HYW too :woohoo:

On a side not, that is a really cool scooter :thumb:

I have a 1980 GS1000 I have been working on. I ride the GS500F 2005 most of the time. So I spent alot of time on the GSRESOURCE web site pretty good guys there. I'm going to do some maintenance and mods on the 500 now. Fork springs, shock maybe, change fluids. 15 tooth sprocket. Some guys here told me about a sale on sprockets, 19 bucks and its in the mail. Good Guys on this site too.

DL1000's never ran as good as DL650's  :dunno_black:
I had my Wee Dyno'd/remapped and it runs even better than it did out of the box....and it ran great out of the box!

That is a common misconception spread around by people who regret getting the 650 over the 1k. Granted, things are far more in favor of the 650...better handling and such...however the motor on the DL1000 was taken out of Suzuki's TL1000R bike and re-tuned for slightly less overall power and greater torque in the mid-range. We did the valve service on a friend's DL1000 which had over 150k on the clock. The valves stayed put for over 70k miles, and when we opened the heads up, the valves were still within the "acceptable" range.

I think they [Suzuki] made a mistake by changing the design of the 1k versus the 650. They should've made them identical and just offered it in a 1k flavor, they would've done much better.

The DL1000 is like that weird, eccentric cousin everybody has. Nobody really likes him because of the way he looks/acts but he's never actually done anything bad, people just spread rumors about him. :)

Suzuki didn't leave the Wee alone either, they changed the cam profile and added more inertia weight (flywheel) to the 650, it makes somewhere between 3-5 HP less than the SV, all in the quest of more bottom and mid power to fulfill the engines new Dual Sport role. If I ever ran across a DL1000 on the cheap, I might take it for a test ride  :dunno_black:

Oh..and as far as "That is a common misconception spread around by people who regret getting the 650 over the 1k" that is PURE UNADULTERATED  BS. I have been an active member @ http://www.vstrom.info/ for many years and ALL of the complaints/post about the quirky fuel mapping and in the end having to resort to the use Power Commanders to get the 1000 to run right where ALL posted by DL1000 OWNERS, not the happy people with the 650  :nono:

Guy I ride with had two DL650s - one his, one his son's. He traded his in on a F650GS - that dual sport thing that's really 800cc engine from BMW. his Dl has something like 77,000kms on it. A week after trading he got a letter from the dealer asking him to sign the enclosed letter and to send it back. The enclosed letter was supposedly a statement from him Declaring the bike only had 8,000kms on it - undoubtedly the dealer found a replacement speedo and wanted to change it out so the bike wouldn't appear to have so many clicks, and needed this guy's declaration.

So Steveo, how have you found wind buffeting on your 650 from the shield? Some people seem to be bothered and put on a larger screen.

Yes..the buffeting was terrible, I tried a 27" Cee Bailey, but that was fugly. Next I cut 3.5 off the stock screen, exposing my helmet but eliminating the buffeting. In the end I ended up with a Custom Chopped Blue Shield  :thumb:

There is nothing wrong with the DL1000 like so many people say there is. "Run right" is subjective. Also, if you look at my posts, I just traded in my DL1000 for a GS. True that I didn't put ALL the miles on the bike but my father had it since new. True that he put a power commander in it, however, he rode all the way from ATL, GA to Phoenix, AZ and back with the bike completely stock and not once did it ever fail him.

I know the bike is quirky. I know it has its eccentricities. Does that mean there's something wrong with it? No. Both the DL650 and 1k are damn near bulletproof bikes. You find many people bashing the 1000 because they're either looking to find justification for buying the smaller bike or they have never owned one. I've owned the 1K and ridden a 650. Both are excellent bikes, just not for me.
