I have extra frame with title, so that is not an issue. Have extra head and jugs. I think I'll get it.

I have a 1989 Gs 500e for sale as a parts bike i have an affidavit of sale from the auction it was bought from, i bought this planning to rebuild the carbs and get it running but unfortunately that wasn't the issue, it has low compression 90 psi on both sides (should be around 150) fires over but doesnt run due to this. tank is yellow, rims are white and frame is grey. has small dent. plastics are original. call or text 360-451-2027 Jerrod.

Called Seller:
OK - I'm getting it. Has 89 clip ons (I know I can sell those!) Low compression - he did oil test on engine and PSI went from 90 to 140 so its rings. Only tiny dent in tank so I'll have a tank for sale cheap. I'll part out everything but the engine and carbs.

He does dirt bikes so he talks like he knows what up with the bike except he said carb jets for the GS500 were hard to get (guess he didn't know about GStwins!)

I think I already sold the clip-ons.

I'll post pix next week as everything goes up for sale except the engine & carbs.

Saw it. Local MOTOcross guy. Called him. Talks all the right terms, explained bought at impound auction and has all paperwork. Title available of I need it. It is legitimate.

adidasguy

Got it home.
Legal paperwork from police impound auction - notarized.

now to start on the parts.
Will start a new thread as parts get ready to sell. You can PM me if you're looking for something.
Bars: sold.
Carbs & Engine: I keep.
No instruments.

Really,

I think you need to talk to someone about your addiction  :icon_lol:

I just want a running vehicle.
2004 F, Fenderectomy, barends, gsxr-pegs, pro grip gel covers, 15th JT sprocket, stock decals gone, custom chain guard,GSXR integrated mirrors, flush mount signals, 150 rear tire, white rims, rebuilt top end, V&H Exhaust, Custom heel and chain guard (Adidasguy)

adidasguy

Rather than start a new thread - found something new for this parts whore to jump on in the Seattle area.....

"all plastics, gas tank, good seat, both rims with good tires, both fenders, (2) swingarms, box of nuts and bolts, (2) boxes of misc parts. 91 carbs, no frame, but I do have a scrap 91 engine that can go too, if you want it."

(Lord only knows what I will buy when GStwins goes down again. Last weekend I bought the parts bike because I had no GStwins to keep me busy!)

Going for it. Complete set of 2004 plastics, tank (painted flat black - wouldn't you know), wheels, boxes-o-parts, 91 engine, carbs $300.

Damn I wish I COULD FIND A DEAL LIKE THAT  :icon_eek: :icon_eek: :icon_eek:

Down in Fl everyone wants a trillion dollars for crap

This is very rare to find these last 2 deals here. The GS500 is not as common in the Seattle area. However, no one has ever spoken bad about it - many said they used to have one.
Seems the GA, VA areas have lots of deals. Then that red/pink bike in CA.

Guy said his kid had the 91 GS. Engine lost compression so bought 2004 bike for parts. Put 2004 engine and stuff in the 91 frame. So selling the 91 engine & carbs, 2004 plastics, tank and seat. My guess is the 2004 had a front end crash as no forks and scratch on front wheel. No frame so frame was probably toast. Anyway, I think still a good deal. Don't know condition of all plastics, but should be good as painters at a minimum.

shonole

Man I wish you didn't live entirely across the country.  I'd be hitting you up for so many parts.

(I'll more than likely be getting with you soon about those jets, trying to narrow down this one cylinder/high idle issue right now)

Did you happen to get any extra carb boots?  I'm hunting both sides, but specifically, the carb to manifold boots.

adidasguy

Oh yea. 2 pair at least. I have to check the sizes - I think one set old, one set new as I understand the sizes from the carbs changed.
I'll check when I unload tomorrow and give you first dibs on them.
Do you need them for old or new carbs? (In case I see a difference as I do have a pile of old and new carbs now so I can measure them.)

shonole

I believe they came off of a 90, and I put them on my 96.  I can always snap a picture to verify.

I checked fitting on old and new carbs and it seems the carb to engine boots are the same. Compared and airbox boots on old carbs is a little larger than new carbs. So I can spare a pair. I need one pair to put back on the engine that came with the rest of the parts today. What are they worth? I don't know right now.

Can't help it - gotta brag a little about this find - SCORE!

Carb to manifold seems same for any year (maybe someone knows exactly if there is a difference). Got 4 of those.
Extra new airbox, but airbox to carb boot is different from 89-00 and 2001+
Noticed wiring harness is complete - all relays and the CDI! Oil cooler, good seats (old and new), side & center stands, old style gauges, 2 new timing pickups, perfect gauge bracket with the blue cap and so much more. A really rare find!
No dents in tank, just a crappy black rattle can spray job. Gotta go break open the gas cap. I got so many ignition sets, one of thje keys just might fit (yes, I need to sell some of those ignitipn/gascap/seatlock sets)

Seems he put the 2004 engine in the 1991 frame. Changed pickup to the 1991 pickup and also used the old carbs so he didn't have to change the wiring harness.

BaltimoreGS

Excellent score Adidas, congrats!!  I'd love to find a set of black wheels locally cheap.  Was the yellow tank part of the deal or is that from previous hoarding??

Yellow tank was last week's parts bike. Still have to get the rest of it out of the car. All that and the bike frame+engine were all in the back of my CRV. Nearly 2 complete bikes (in pieces) in my car. I don't know how I did it. Gotta start selling off what I don't need.

Too bad you're not close. I now have 2 sets of extra black wheels and I think 3 sets of white.
