Clutch lever options

Hello all,
I'm new here and just recently purchased my second bike, a 2006 GS500 (moved up from a little Yamaha Virago). I still consider myself a newbie but gettin' better all the time. After a year of riding with no incidents, I dropped my bike last week in the parking lot at work. I was pulling out and the bike stalled, started to roll back and was down before I could even react. Grrr. Thankfully, my ego took the majority of the damage and the bike only has a few scratches (mostly to the lights I intend to replace anyway). However, the clutch lever broke and although the electrical tape on the end is really awesome looking, I'd like to replace it. I'm hoping to get something a little smaller (my girls hands have trouble with the stock levers) and even better would be an adjustable model. I've been poking around but don't find any that are made for the GS. Has anyone changed out the clutch lever? If so, what'd you use and where'd you get it?
Thanks for the help!

you can swap the whole clutch perch for a 1st gen SV650, then use SV levers, like pazzos or CRG. I think.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

The problem with the GS clutch lever is that it is specific to the GS, no other bike shares the lever. There may be but I do not know of any aftermarket options made for the GS. I use a GSXR clutch lever assembly which allows for a greater selection of levers.
Common sense in not very common.

So the 2002 SV650 clutch lever assembly should work, right?

Most any assembly (lever and perch) will work. The clutch start switch may have to be rewired.
No idea what "version 1.9" is.

for the clutch start switch, all you have to do is connect the two yellow/green wires that go to the original clutch perch.  either solder them, wire nut them, stick em together and heat shrink em, whatever way you wanna do it.  I suggest soldering them together and putting some heat shrink over.  thats what i do for most of my permanent connections

I would not bypass the switch. Forget that it is in gear one time when you hit start, you will find out.

just get in the habit of making sure it in neutral (which you should already be in), and besides, it still wont start in gear if the kickstand is down, and even if thats not down, its not like starting in gear without the clutch will kill you or your bike. you just feel the jerk and let off the button right away by instinct.  but im in such a habit that i pull the clutch in every time i start any bike, even ones that dont have a clutch swith

Yea i'm usually on the clutch when i start as well. Thanks for the help

The day I get a problem with the clutch or sidestand switch (and it seems like thats 'when', not 'if') I'm going to bypass the relay and lose all those "safety" features. I rode for 35 years without them (a few on a GS450), and if I can't remember to pull the clutch in before starting and fold the stand before letting it out again I figure its time to give up riding. :thumb:

I don't like reviving an old topic but.....

What suggestions are there for clutch perches WITH mirror for a naked GS500 so I can use cool levers like the ASV?

http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo.aspx?catref=577381&tier1url=Spares&tier2url=Brake-and-Clutch-Levers&tier3url=ASV

Some have used the SV650 but that doesn't have the mirror mount. I have searched the forums and haven't found any mentioned that have a mirror mount. (The clutch safety switch is not a problem, just put on whatever connector is needed for whatever switch is on the different perch)

For the 2009-F, is there a better suggestion than the SV650 that won't require a change of the clutch cable assembly? Well, OK. I'll change the clutch cable if I must.

Here's the ASV site. What about Gladius perch? DL-1000?

So any bikes with a mirror on the clutch perch?
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.
