I'm pretty reasonable for prices. I buy lots, keep the few parts I really need and sell the rest just to make back my investment. I don't price things up to make a profit. I know some of people can''t always afford things so I sometimes will cut a deal and even trade for parts.
Make a list of what you need so I can keep an eye out. If I have a dozen of something you need, you can get it pretty cheap. (Like I have a whole box full of all the reflectors - few people ask for them so they're pretty much going for postage.)

You really should have a center stand. It is very useful for working on your bike. You can PM me with a list of what you would like. I'll help you prioritize things as to what is most useful and what can wait for later.

:X I'm still confused why PO took off my center stand.. :/

So it wouldn't scrape the ground during cornering.

I highly doubt that. You would probably be scraping the side cases if you have it over far enough to scrape the centre stand. Most likely reason people remove it is to save weight, for looks or if the bike went down in a big way.

2005 GS500f All stock. Can't figure out whats wrong, the more I google the more possibly it could be, have checked the carbs MANY times. everything LOOKS right.. cleaned and everything. so maybe someone with a good ear could figure this one out...

Sounded ok to me. What's the problem? (Long thread, too much pointless advice, did not read)

I know it's money but sometimes the best thing to do is to take it into the dealer and avoid the headaches. More ride time and less worrying, you can't put a price on that.

right..............you didn't read it but it's full of pointless advice?

ohgood

you have a video camera... point it AT THE SIDE OF BIKE 6-12 feet away, start it cold, let it warm, then show us the condition you're refering to.

or, just make a very precise description here, in this thread, about what the problem is with your gs. no rambling, no "if i had money for xyz", just the facts.

You think? I kinda like the snap crackle and pop on deceleration. It is about the meanest sound my GS makes.

Well, you're right, it does sound good to me now, with an aftermarket can and 140's. But before with the stock exhaust, it was a little puny. Every time i came down from high rpm, "WHIIRRRRRRRRRR BIPADIPADIPADIPPA RRRRRR PIP RRR PIPAPIPAPIP RRRrrrrrrr"

Actually, back in the day when I was first looking at GS500's, I heard one of the long-time board members say "take off the center stand - it'll drag". I THINK it was Buddha but I could be wrong. Whatever the case is, I'm sure it's because it does, in fact, scrape the ground sometimes. I've scraped mine at least once.

You must be doing pretty extreme riding or have 300 pounds of people on the bike to drag the center stand (or the springs holding it up are broken).
Since it is stopped in the up position by a bumper on the exhaust, changing the exhaust may cause it to stay lower.

OK, so you do take it off. Keep it. WHen you need to work on your bike, its like 1 or 2 minutes to put it back on. 2 bolts and a spring.

Another option would be to buy a rear paddock stand. They can be got for pretty cheap nowadays.

I'm not taking mine off! You crazy. I love having it and the security [read: stability] it offers - especially like filling up with it on the center stand!

I'm about 6'0-1" tall, give or take, and I weigh almost 200lbs. I'm not a tiny guy but I'm not huge either. Also, I'm fairly certain the bike has been lowered so that may play into it. Still, I know it was someone on here advising people to ditch the center stand, and personally I think it's best that it stays on the bike.

@JW Video is too long. Less talk, more problem only. As it is, I don't hear anything untoward. Just asking... you did check the valves didn't you? And BTW, just cause a bunch of people say "rejet, rejet" doesn't mean you should. McNinja seems to loath the GS500 even though he bought one, cause he whines about it all the time every chance he gets  :icon_rolleyes:

My bike is fine in stock form. Has enough power to do what I want it to do. Twisted's bike is stock and runs fine too. Seems the group of people with the most running problems are those who have rejetted.

As for center stand... yeah sure, it Can scrape under certain conditions. But those conditions are quite rare. Rare enough not to warrant removing it from the bike.
