I've read what I need to get to get them blinking properly (or at all when 4 installed) but not sure which.

LED Turn Signal Resistor?
or a flasher relay?

Ok, I'm being a smart ass.  Your "or" statement is correct. You need either one, but not both.

However, if you use the electronic relay, your dash indicator may not work correctly without a small modification.

Just try to hook them up first.  I bought the same ones and didn't need any extras to get them to work.  Mine were orange though and I painted them black.  Yes because they were orange they were dirt cheap.

In order to keep your wiring as stock as possible you need the diode kit as has been raved about so much. You can buy it online or at an electronics store, or you can make it yourself it's not hard and will cost you around $5 or less in materials (assuming you gave a soldering iron). That stops all 4 lights blinking when you put either indicator on. Then get yourself a 2 pin led indicator flasher and replace your stock one and you should be good to go.

While you're doing it, take an extra hour and do everything and do it right.
1. Replace flasher
2. Replace gauge lights with LEDs
3. Replace all indicator lights with LEDs
4. Use  the 2 diodes thing to correct the turn signal indicator (I drew the schematic, see other posts)

If you have a fairing or headlight cowling, put a left and right turn signal LED inside like I did on Suzi. Even cars and other bikles have separate indicators for left and right. Its cool! Then rewire the turn indicator to the side stand switch so you know when the side stand is down. Just looked at GS550 instrument cluster as a possibility for Phenix: It has gear indicator, left and right turn indicators and a side stand indicator. If the tach and speedo work, I might get it. Its local at Bent Bike so I can look at it first.

(I have a box or two full of LEDs if you don't know what to buy. I'm a parts whore, you know.)

When I replaced the turn signals on my last bike with LED signals all I did was go to pepboys and buy an electronic flasher, swapped it out with the stock flasher, and I was in business. Sometimes life can be simple  :woohoo:

hopefully it will be simple.
I thought starting my bike up would be simple, look where that got me! hahaha!

but yeah, good idea.
def. going to replace all the indicator lights and such.
probably red for the speedo and tach to match the new color scheme.   :thumb:
