Top End Rebuild Video is up!

I videoed Adfalchius' top end rebuild last weekend and finally got it all edited together.  Due to length I had to split it into 4 parts on youtube.  Hope this helps with some winter projects and as the disclaimer says:  "This video is a visual aide and should be used in conjunction with a good repair manual."

"Before you install the cylinder head, clean it up, a little, with a razor blade"?  I spent 2 HOURS cleaning the head on mine with nothing harder than a fingernail!!! So was that overkill?

It may be the way I rendered it (mpeg2) that affected the size.  The program I work in is an older version of Ulead Video Studio.  It doesn't recognize the .mov file format my camera uses so I run the files through a converter to avi format which may mess with the size (I know it effects the quality).  What do you want for free though??   

You don't want to gouge the gasket mating surface you are cleaning which is especially important with aluminum since it is a softer metal.  Lightly scraping with a razor blade is fine.  I wouldn't show it in a video but I use a 3M scuffing pad on a die grinder when I remove old gasket material.

there's a little crack you can use to get free version of Sony Vegas 9 pro. its what i use to edit all my footage with, and handles all footage(from my old AVCHD format sony, to my t2i's and also my gopros) very well. pm me if you'd like some links

Bootlegging and piracy is why all these crappy laws are going to get passed. If you use it - buy it. Lots of great programs are no longer available because they didn't make enough money to stay in business - due to bootleggers.

I'm sorry i got on yer bad side adidas, but unfortunately for me i'm NOT in the software business haha. So those individuals buying thousands of dollars of software aren't helping my paycheck. Thus I am a poor architectural draftsman getting the architects table scraps, and don't have a spare $600(yes the price of the base package of Vegas) to spend on software i'm going to use no more than 5 times a year.

HELL I'm am still saving for my own $5,000 copy of Autodesk's Architectural Desktop that would be a great benefit for me and my career. Then on top that there's another $5,500 software my job is trying to move it. Not going to even start saving for it yet..

If prices were comparable to the benefits I get from it I would put forth the money, for sure. Until then, its either use the shitty free Windows Movie Maker, or scheme a multi billion dollar corporation's 3 year old software....

Use Vegas Movie Studio. Same program without the confusing fluff you would never use unless doing professional movies.

If you are taking classes and have a student ID (even DeVry, or other places) you can get student discounts on many expensive programs.

Vegas Video, Sound Forge and Acid started out as a small company of a few people. I first started supporting them 10 or so years ago when I saw their booth at the NAB convention. Their click & pop restoration of vinyl records impressed me. A few years ago Sony bought them because they needed a great video program for all their video products.

ULead Video Studio is excellent entry level program for $75 or so.

You only need the expensive programs for advanced features you'll probably never use - like unlimited video tracks.
