Hyosung bikes. What's the deal?

My buddy sent me this link and I'm a little confused with the connection between Hyosung and Suzuki.  I mean there has to be one right?

They are a Korean outfit who started out manufacturing "old" Suzukis under licence. According to one or more of the UK bike mags ( and this is from memory) They have a "long-standing association with Suzuki"

Last spring when I was looking to purchase a new "middleweight" bike a 600 or 650 v twin was being trailed and was supposed to become available here in late summer. I contacted them via website and asked for details etc, (never got any) also a dealership about 30 miles away were fairly evasive/negative about it and I believe no longer have that franchise. The 600 or 650 looked very like the 250 comet, or indeed the GX, I was rather hoping-wishing for a cheap new SV650. As it turned out I bought a new Gixxer in June and lost interest but the 600 or 650 has not surfaced on the UK market, nor has the information the importer said they would send me "As soon as it became available"

The 250 Comet is listed as available here but I have never seen one.

Forgot to mention, there are loads of Hyosung scooters and sporty little 125s around here, they look like nice little bikes, they also advertise a 125 "Cruise" which is widely available as a grey import as if the small Cruiser market wasn't crowded enough.

It'll be cool to see some sporty small displacement bike alternatives.  With insurance the way it is up here in Canada I'm surprised none of the bike manufacturers are bringing in the little buggers.

The 250's are at a delaer in Charlotte. Seen them and heard some slick sales types praise it as being like a 600... cos it have 11:1 compression... Anyway... Not seen the 600/650 here and I think in US they are called alpha not hyosung.

It was really nice looking bike but the engine  :dunno:

When It was 6000 miles on it we put there another engine (Jawa 350 2T 6V)  

But maybe now they can make cool bikes

Great... the motor blew up at 6K miles??? Good... Its not like the Jap bikes are that expensive either... atleast on the used market. A 25% lower price oin new probably translates into a 10% lower cost used... and comparing to my last bike, my 535 cost me $425... and would have been $40 cheaper... whooo hooo... I am rich... I saved $40. I'd rhater have the better jap quality and pay the $40 more for it.

Hyosung is known as Alphasports in this country.  The 250 is already available in this country, but you have to look around.  Most dealers only carry their scooters.   I like the idea of the 250, since it would be the only serious competition for the Ninja 250.

On the subject of licensing, Sachs in Germany has a couple of tasty models built around the VX800 engine.  Their roadster has spoked wheels, and a "less modern" look which, in my eyes, is the direction Suzuki should have taken the VX.  That bike deserved a better fate than the styling it was saddled with.

MOMs (Motorcycle of Manchester) has a few of the cruisers in stock.  they look small, like suzuki-savage sized, but more of a 2/3 scale fatboy frame.  MOMs also has a branch in Foxboro near Gilette Stadium in case you have an itch for Korean bikes.  I'll stick with my suzuki, unless they can offer something as good or better for less money.

theres a yahoo group for the Alphasport brand headed by the company themselves. They were trying to build customer awareness and also get direct feedback on everything from desirable colors to features, etc. I was looking in there for info on the 250 they had. This was before I bought mine and it was supposed to be available in the US last Feb and in CA last March.

The 250 cruisers , from what the owners on that board said, were good looking bikes that didnt feel small. They were often confused for bigger displacement bikes, to the owners liking.

you could probably find the yahoo group pretty easily searching the groups for wither Alpha Sport or Hyosung in the motorcycle groups.

Where?  I been all over that area and neva saw a bike dealership.
