Gentlemen, I have a question to ask you.  I went to go purchace a dyno jet kit from a dealer.  I told him I have a 01 gs500 E and wanted a jetting kit.  He told me that there is only a stage 1 kit for my bike.  I have read a number of time of guys on this forum who have done a stage 3 kit.  Is there a stage 3 kit?  i have read guys using Factory pro kits.  Is there a stage 3 kit from Factory pro?  I have a Hindle exhaust and a K&N drop in.  What kit and from what company would I benefit from the most.  Any help would be appreciated.

Forget a jet kit. They're expensive for what they are.

Here's all the information you'll ever need about jetting the GS: http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Upgrades.Rejetting

You can rejet your carb for no more than $30 - mikuni jets are usually about $5 a piece.

is ther any drilling required or is it straight forward doing it that way.

The Buddha

You want to stay away from any fool who suggests you should drill and plug your slides.
However the brass plug caps on top of the air mix screws will have to be drilled out.

looks to me from the chart the changes will be 20/62.5/142.5.  Am I right.  I thought I saw something about #4 washers.

Kijona

Simply plug & play. I don't know about #4 washers but I'm sure Buddha can tell you about that.

You unscrew the old ones and screw the new ones in - it's that simple. You put washers on top of the needles but I don't know which ones.

Thankyou very much.  i will definately ask The Buddha.  There is a perfect How To from a Jeffrey D.  exactly what I needed.  Wish I new how to post a link   :technical:

The Buddha

Sorry pipe and drop in K&N, not a problem I got those jets 132.5 mains - where you get 142.5 - I think one of these days I need to look in that wiki/matrix/star wars/avatar thing we got ...

Pipe and K&N drop in on 89-00 is 127.5 mains, on the 04+ its 135 mains, and on the 01-02 its 132.5, its 2 sizes over stock.
62.5 - forget those, dont need, I never have found 62.5's though. 65's I got but pipe and drop in isn't ever going to need it, washer under needle is what it needs.
Then yea 3 turns on mix screws and you're good. These are starting points, especially mix screws will need fiddling/fine tuning, maybe even summer to winter fine tuning.

Cool.
