got the idea when I seen it used here.

http://beergarage.com/GSGasket.aspx

but he never said if it held up good or not.

asking because its going to be a BUSYYYY month!

Finally got the bike running.
I gotta finish it up to be able to ride it 45 mins to where im moving ASAP!
Clean up the work area, pack it all up. etc etc
Also, pack everything else.
bla bla bla

I just wanna get this done and be able to get out of here asap.
as by the time I can purchase an actual oem replacement gasket will be in another week from Friday.
then it will usually take yet Another week or two and I am not sure I will even be here then.

I might stop up the local salvage yard and see how much it is there and to ship it there.

but im just covering my options to get this taken care of like Now!

thanks!  :thumb:

I'd do it right, and get the OEM gasket. The faster you rush something, the faster it is to fail. A head gasket would be a huge task to fix if you only used the spray stuff and had to take it back down to make it right again.

Search his posts, I believe that gasket eventually failed.

I'm on my third head gasket in two years. The first I replaced at the first valve check. The second leaked like crazy and I found a tear in it when I pulled the cover off (possibly my fault  :dunno_black: ). The third is holding up OK. Long story short, messing with them is a pain...I would fix it right the first time.

I believe that the cereal box oil pan gasket failed, not the head gasket? But it is always good to buy a new set. They are not expensive for this bike.

You're talking about the valve cover gasket. OP is talking about the gasket between the jug and lower end.

Tombstones81

no I was not talking about the cereal box hahaha im not That crazy!
and that gasket he made was for his oil pan, which I did read that it failed. (the cereal box one)

but its all good.
Just got home a bit ago and stopped by the salvage yard after work omw home.
$36.04 to be exact for the Cylinder head gasket  :thumb:

which is at Least $10 cheaper then the cheapest I seen to buy online and ship to my house.

was only looking into cheaper "For Now" options because money is a lil tight atm until next Friday.
and I have alot of my plate atm, so I need to get this rideable asap for when I move in a few weeks.

but $36, 7 to 10 days to be mailed to the salvage yard and not where im at now was sweet!
also because I am not sure if I would be here when it took its sweet time shipping to my current address if bought online. (u know how that is!)
and if I mailed it to my moms, I would have to waste gas on a 30 to 45 min drive just to pick it up and come right back home.

all worked out tho :)
