I got a heavy duty leather jacket (kind of like a harley jacket, only actually made out of thick leather)

If I made that the right size, cut it up,would it make a good seat cover?

I never wear it anyways.

I used to know of a guy here in the Kissimmee area that said he would do mine for $75 I'm thinking of doing the gel seat and marine vinyl though. Xune if you got a garage maybe would could take a day and experiment.

Awesome, do you know how to use the sewing machine? Funny, the only B I got in 8th grade was in home economics and that was for effort my attempt at sewing (can't even spell it LOL) was hideous!

Eh? Even I know how to sew... and I didn't even have home economics? Military family tho. Gotta learn how to sew on your own shaZam! or you're gonna end up paying someone else to do it! Pretty simple.. sewing that is. Just get some fabric and practice first. Nothing fancy, for motorcycle seats. I'd x2 stitch with a zig zag pattern with a medium weight needle. With a heavy weight tread. < Not cotton! How do I stress not cotton! To finish off a sew line, Back up your sewing machine about 2 or 3 contacts in reverse than go back forward, than cut tread. :D The seat on the GS500f is pretty easy to mod at home. Just even heavy duty staple guns, Suck going into that darn plastic!

What model singer Xune...? I'm driving a Consew 206 RB... (commercial/industrial machine- Compound walking foot with reverse- uses an M bobbin -clutch motor ....).

Your leather  jacket as a seat cover...not all leather is the same...may be fine tho- Leather needs more care-and isn't going to stretch  like vinyl does during the install - may need to pattern and sew parts of it to make it fit. Leather is ok- I'm kind of indifferent about it.

Jwalker- most  home machines wont handle a thread heavy enough for a motorcycle seat-you may get it to sew two thickness's of vinyl . If you're top stitching it will be three- if you're sewing welt/piping in it will be four thickness's. You may get 69 to go through an average home machine- if you're lucky- which will hold for awhile- but you want 92  ( I use 138  Ultra DEE Poly ) minimum so the thread will last. Zig zag...no - straight lock stitch  is what you want with upholstery (seams will lay better- fit correctly).

Zig zag stitches are good for making sails- and keeping raw edges from fraying- used in some clothing...it is a strong stitch tho.

Worm- I'm headed to work- will pm you about your seat later.

When the 2nd Amendment is lost, the rest will soon follow.

Torque is LBs-FT Damn it.
Yeah that was me.    One of my rides

If I want your opinion out of you I will ask it. Go away I have no further want or input from you until you can speak in a respectful manner mama's boy. Of course I can sew in a straightline for pants etc... Hell I sewed my convertible top back together after burglars cut a 4 ft hole in it. It was a funny haha its not my strong suit joke. But, your not mature enough or been on the board enough to catch it. Grow up and I will talk to you I will not reply any longer to your childish replies. Have a great life!
BTW I want nice on my bike! And zig zag sounds stupid.
