A really really really simple question.

On my bike I actually get better gas mileage when I use midgrade like 89.  The 91 seems to make the bike not run as strong.  I really don't know why  :dunno:

I haven't tried 87 yet but maybe mine will run even better on that :dunno:

Ehmmmmm.... here in Fnland we only got 95 or 98. Some places even 99.
I'ts mostly only older cars wish run on 98, but my frien had a 1000cc Yamaha somthing -90 which he alwys filled with 98.

I'm totally lost....  :?

The lowest octane you can use without causing knocking.

Oh, I see a delete icon on my post in the upper right hand corner.  Also, a check box when I edit the post.

Now I can't see any way to delete the post.

Quote from: glenn9171There are several ways of measuring octane levels in gasoline. The numbers in the manual are using a different equation than the numbers on the gas pumps in the US.

My factory manual states "Octane rating of 87 (R+M)/2 method".  (R+M)/2 is the convention in the US.

I concur my edit screen is has exactly the same functions as yours. Guess that means I am a lowly peon user as well.  :dunno:

Oh wait,  I have the "Delete this post function now". Whatchamacallit???

It seems like the delete function will appears if your post is the last post on the thread.
It is not good enough to say that we are trying our best. We must succeed in doing what is necessary.

I've found that mine starts better and runs better on mid-grade 89 to 90 rather than 92 and up.

Not sure why. :dunno:

I've run my '99 on 85 octane for 20,000 of its 30,000 miles.  (The other 10,000 were on out-of-state trips where I couldn't FIND 85 octane.)  No problems that I'm aware of....
