i recommend a Hindel exhaust.  I have a 01 gs500e and I have had my fair share of exhausts systems.  My first exhaust was a Yoshimura and overall it was pretty good.  I found it to be just too damn loud although the higher the rpms got the quieter it became.  Then I had a Two Brothers exhaust.  The sound from a Two brothers exhaust was amazing, to bad someone ripped it off my bike.  Then I bought I oval Hindel slip on.  This exhaust overall has been the very best.  Sound and performance was above what I expected, def the best I have had yet. Cost is about 275.00 give or take.  just my opinion but personal preference plays a big role in what your going to buy
