The only mustang I would EVER own is either the 302/5.0L foxbody or the old 1967 fastback. Still, I'd rather have the lotus any day of the week.

If you haven't driven one of the 2011+, you're missing out.  Seriously.  Fantastic cars.

You don't know what a car is.  :flipoff:

I've ridden in a friends '11 mustang. It was...okay. :P

Sorry, I'm just biased. The cars I like the most are the closest to feeling "bare" or "raw". I don't like things that most people like, lol.

Lol.  Drive it, don't just ride in it!  I'm the first in line to appreciate a hot hatch, but there's something about having 400+ HP on tap.

Eh...power to weight ratio. :)

Eh...power to weight ratio. :)

2011 Ford Mustang GT:  412 HP, 3533 lbs.  P/W ratio: 1:8.6 (or 0.117)
2011 VS Golf GTI (I'll even use the more powerful 35th anniv. edition): 232 HP, 3200 lbs. P/W ratio: 1 : 13.8 (0.073)
2009 Lotus Exige S (more powerful s260): 257 HP, 2,020 lbs.  P/W ratio: 1:1 : 7.9 (or 0.127)

The GTI is a great car, it really is, but it's in a completely different league.  The exige is sweet, but for twice the price?  I could have a GT500 for that money.

The new Mustang is a work of art.  The coyote engine is one of, if not the best American made V8 on the market.

Consider that the Exige S will get close to 38mpg if you're careful with the throttle. Not only will it do that, it will also run circles around the mustang, even though it has half the HP, half the cylinders, and half the displacement.

Mustang = big and heavy and engineered like a boat
Exige = small and nimble and engineered like a racecar

Now don't get me wrong...I don't dislike mustangs. They're just way too overrated in my opinion. By the way, you can get a used Exige for about 30k. Not bad.

My 06 gets 28 on the highway all day long.  I've gotten north of 30 if I'm light on the throttle.  The beauty of the new Coyote engine and 6 gears?  19 city/31 hwy, with reports of guys getting 35 on the highway.

And the Boss 302 Laguna Seca would outrun the exige, and still cost less.  It's an M3 killer.

The Exige is sweet, for sure.  I'd love to have one.  But if it were my $, I'd buy the Mustang every time.  (In fact, I did, lol.)

I think once you've driven an Exige, most everything else pales in comparison. And as far as outrunning...maybe top-speed wise and possibly acceleration, but no way it would around a track.

I don't know, I guess to me...if it's a sports car, it shouldn't also be comfortable. Every little bit of comfort you add removes one more element that connects you to the vehicle.

It's also the same reason why I feel like automatic transmissions should be in one kind of car only: your grandmother's.

But hey, I'm old-school. What can I say?

Lotus Exige at Laguna Seca: 1:45.82
Boss 302 LS at Laguna Seca: 1:39.5

Seriously, it's an astounding car, in every way.  It's basically a turn key track car.

Also, if you don't want comfort, then the Laguna Seca edition would be right up your alley.  With the track key in, it rumbles like a stock car.  Comfortable, it ain't.

HAhaha.  She makes a good GT car (that's really the reason I bought her, surprising amount of room and pretty comfortable on trips, yet still sporty and fun).  Hell, if this weather ever cooperates, I'll ride PITA up there!

Man, I forgot how nice Jags are. This cat is mean!  Ride quality and comfort is just superb!  The detector has already saved my ass a few times and it just got here today.

Yeah, you caught me, it's not 'new'......it's the X350 chassis XJ8 Vanden Plas.  Completely loaded, 300hp and I'm getting 30mpg hwy.
I ordered a new radar detector as well, should be here wednesday....it's an escort 8500x50 with the escort live package.

This car is simply stunning in person.  The white just glistens and the interior is two-tone tan.
the jaguar pearl white?, local friend has one. same color. you arent kidding. it is NICE.

I drove a 6-cyl Jag in the late 80's.  Wow.
Fast-forward through 20 years of technology + your V-8 instead of a 6-cyl.  I can't imagine  :icon_mrgreen:
Yup.  Nice.

1. Nice new car! It has character.
2. Can't say I get the horsepower obsession for street use. My old Miata had all the power I needed, though it only weighed 2400 pounds.
