Well! I took my first round of steroids this morning and the soreness of my neck/throat is completely gone. I'm guessing it had something to do with the severe ear infection I had and draining and being all swollen up. I'm no doctor though. I just know it's working.

I'm no doctor, but i know a few things.  Lymph nodes are part of the body's immune system.  When there is an infection in the area, they will swell.  This is probably why the lymph nodes in your neck were swelling.

Short answer is yes. Long answer is you may just need some antibiotics BUT NEVER futs with limph node problems as it may be stemming from somewhere deeper and you really should seek a medical opinion at your local GP. There are however online medical diognosis tools for free which may help. Try googling free medical online.

yup free upfront, but paid via taxes . but either way, free to you,. anyhoo im guessing lymphnodes. been dealing with this in combination of swollen eyelids, and abdomen myself for over a year now. use the online help, but as ONLY that. it will give you some idea as to what to ask doctor/ED. check  nvm got it solved ya did

Yeah, it's funny how bad off you can be without realizing it - now that the swelling in my throat/neck has gone down and I've stopped wheezing, I feel so much better. I also can't sleep now...

One unwanted side effect of the steroids is insomnia. I couldn't go to sleep until four this morning...then woke up at 8:30. Wide awake. Oh well.

I can't tolerate steroids at all! They literally drive me crazy on occasion I've been forced to take them when my Crohn's gets really bad. The last time was in 2008 ended up going 8 weeks without eating solid food. Well, while in the hospital I had to take IV steroids you think 60mg a day is high. I think I was getting 100 IV push every 4-6 hours. I got a rare condition called steroid induced mood disorder.Kinda like bipolar on crack one second on top of the world next didn't want to live. After a week of the IV I didn't even know who I was anymore I didn't sleep at all that week! The best analogy I could give is that I felt like a cat with my claws stuck in the ceiling flipping out. Even worse the steroid sent me into worsening heart failure and screwed up my glucose levels. As soon as they back off the steroid the inflammation would return with excruciating pain up the steroid stomach got better but couldn't breathe.

Was a lousy catch 22! Even worse was going 8 weeks without food and gaining 7lbs
