Hi there, new to the GS and forum

Hey folks,

I'm relatively new to the forum, been lurking for a few months learning all about my new machine. Well, relatively old machine actually. Picked up an 89 for $900 CDN (live in Prince Edward Island, Canada) in November for a winter project and have been doing a cleaning, restoration and painting job with my dad.

I'll be posting a before and after once the project is finished in the next month or so!

Before the GS I was riding a 2004 Yamaha XT225 dualsport as a first bike. Lovely little bike, great for back roads, but its been 3 years on that and it was time for a bit more power. Being a student, the GS500 seemed like best bang for buck and I'm excited to try a new riding style.

Anyways, just wanted to say hi. I've already learned a great deal from this forum.
