Old school Yamaha tech!  "Deltabox Frame"   ;)  They were good bikes in their day.  It would have to be really cheap and in good shape for me to want to own one now.  Can't remember if '89 got the GENESIS sticker on them.

whats wrong with owning one now?

I think they look just fine.
look even better with I think he said an R6 rear fender swap.

pic looks in good condition.

dunno, I've never been one for whats older or newer.

I like what I like regardless.

if you dislike it because of its age visual wise.

and I doubt I will get it tho.

Found out its his first bike but he needs to clear some space.

So I doubt he would be too quick on book value.

which is around $1000 only on kbb and nada.

Nothing to do with cosmetics.  I loved my '96 CBR600F3 too but I still wouldn't want to own that now either     I owned it when it was new and nice.  Anything old tends to be a money pit.  Things wear, things dry out, things corrode, things seize...  If the price is low enough and the bike is in good shape I would consider it.  If I can buy something newer for the same or slightly more money I would get that instead.  Technology improves over time, especially true with sport bikes where models are revamped every few years.  I would probably buy a YZF600R before I'd buy a FZR.  Just my opinion...

SAFE-T

I had a '90 FZR600 ~ I remember it not liking to start in cool weather. The '89 had a 3.5" wide rear wheel which Yamaha changed to a 4" in 1990.

18" rear tire is a little odd size these days and will limit your tire selection a bit.

I recall mine having a lot of coarse vibration driving around in the city where you were always shifting, but it was remarkably smooth at constant speed on the open road.
