Sold My Old bike and Got GS

Hi,
I just got my first "street" bike, a 2006 GS 500F. I got what I think was a really good deal. It's pretty much mint with 4300 miles on the clock. 3 days after I got it I sold my dual sport because the wife would not be happy I had 3 bikes. She gave a smile when I handed her a hand full of crisp hundreds after I sold it and that made it all better. Figured I find a site where I could get some good info on the bike so here I am. So far I'm really happy with it. The neck is a little stiff and the legs feel a little weird after riding for a few hours but I'll get use to the more forward leaning position from my upright dirt bike seating.

First question: I know it's cold blooded but when its warming up it seems to be a noisy (knock, rattle) until it's good and warm. Is this normal? It's a little opposite from my push rod thumper that was quiet when cold and chattered like a sewing machine when warm.

Second, do any of you use Rotella T diesel 15/40 oil in your bikes. I used it in my other bikes and it worked really well.

Rotella works fine and these bikes are noisy.  Welcome to the forum
