Having your disc brakes resurfaced?

I was told that my discs need resurfacing.  
Who does is?
How much does it run?

dont take my word on this but i read somewhere (i think on this board???) that the gs' brake discs are thin as it is, and resurfacing them would make them too thin and could cause bad warping. That is the case if you have deep scratches/ruts and whatnot.

Past that, i have no idea, im just post whoring it up   I'll see if i can find where i read it here.

Bead blasting is required for rotors that have glazed from over heating. Usually have a blueish color. Primarily occuring during heavy/excessive braking while racing or aggresive street riding. My local tire pimp does bead blasting but not sure of the cost. A used rotor should be cheaper.

if its just glazed, then try this, get a sanding block with 150 grit, and gently scrub the rotor enough to take the shine out of it, dont sand in circle, but in a straight line, turn the disc alitle and sand some more, it doesnt take much, once done, you can do this to your pads too but just a few strokes should be all you need. everything will need to re-bed again, so give yourself plenty of room for stoping and no HARD braking for few miles.

id say you can do it, but, taking into acct. the gs's rotor thin-ness, id look into either a used one or (if price right) a new one.

If a bunch of people want them... I am thinking ~35-40+ I believe I can make them for ~35 bucks a piece. Just the outer disc, You'll have to find rivets and get it put on but galfer or other companies sell those.

was thinking same thing srinath, i have an EBC rotor for GS that prev owner warped on the track, got one race outa it, go figure. but iwas thinking of using it was a template to cut another.

Well there is a machininst I know that says he will make it from a large OD thick wall pipe. Minimal machining and wasteage = least $$$. And many aftermarket rotors are crap... they are made from cast iron and while those dissipate heat better they are weaker than the stock mild steel.

Good used rotors are only $30-$40. I still have 3 for sale @ $30 each. How much is a button kit for replacing the rotor anyway? I would guess at least $20.
