Anyone use an LED headlamp?

I saw these 7" round LED headlamps. probably would fit into a stock 7" housing.
Pricy - like $300
Wonder if anyone has any experience with them?

I've seen them used a couple times on Jeep Wranglers (since they drop right in) but never really got a chance to check out the light pattern.

Adidas, I know there is at least one person on dotheton making their own LED headlights. Wouldn't be that hard for an fellow like yourself.

Not on a motorcycle but I can tell you from experience with the factory LED tail lights on Toyotas at work and the 3rd brake light on my mother's Jeep Commander, they DO burn out and are expensive to replace when they do.

They put some like this in HMMVEE's now. They are super bright!!! Great for blinding terrorist....

EDIT:  They are DOT Approved.

LEDs are shock and vibration resistant.  I'm sure they would be awesome! 

Give it 5 years...the prices will come down.  The US Government has a thing against incandescent lamps in general as it relates to energy usage.  LED is the future since Fluorescents have mercury in them.

If I had $300, I'd give you all a complete review!

I have done extensive lighting research on my car. I have Xenons as well as LEDs on my car. However, I do not think LED's alone would be bright enough to safely use as the only light source. Xenons on the other hand, much better idea.

I think it's straight led in military vehicles now. And I've seen the way they light up an afghanistan mountain side. If you had one of those on a motorcycle everyone would see you.

Agreed.

Ad, there are tons of videos up on youtube.  They look great, from what I can tell.  I've seen them on Jeeps as well, and they are fantastic.   The ones you are looking at on ebay are from the same company that makes the Jeep lights.  I haven't heard anything bad about them.

Adidas, trucklites came out with "Phase 7" of their LED head lights. I would look into getting that version rather than the multi diode version. The newer one uses a reflector rather than the hazzy glass optics from that one.

You could also check out the JW speaker unit, kinda funky looking but more expensive again.
