Winter has eroded my brain

It's a nice day in SW Ohio.  Time to ride.

Get 3 blocks away, bike DIES.  Almost kill the battery cranking before I realize that the fuel valve on the tank is OFF.  OK, rough start, but I chalk it up to a well DUH moment and move on.   :cookoo:

2 hours into the ride, bike DIES on the highway.  Will not start.  Start field troubleshooting.  5 minutes and I am thinkin it's CARB or Spark related.

Wait...I'm at 190 on the trip ODO.  Out of gas.  Flip to reserve, fires right up.

Unbelievable.  Maybe I need a refresher course after winter???
Bikeless and Broke at the moment...

I think we have all had one of those days before. No worries.
If you can feel the wind in your hair... you need to put a helmet on.

So true. Not long back I did the "Why the F#$K is this bike stalling when I put it in gear" thing only to realize my side stand was still down  :embarrassed:

Glad I am not the only one who has done that.

Another guilty one here.

Sorry for the book report, this is the first chance I've had to vent the situation haha..

I recently swapped tanks on my drz and didn't have but a drip or two left in a spare jug to refill(mistake #1!).  So I risked it early one morning before work and headed downhill to the closest station. She conked out barely a block away, first thought, "ohshit! not going to make it anywhere from here." then I remembered i had left it in the ON position.. switched it over primed her up, started, and then switched it to RES. I proceed down the hill, and chugged her into the gas station.. CLOSED! and of course they are the only station in town with the old style no credit card reader on pumps

Started to pull a quick U and head uphill to the station beside my office. She died before i made it out of the stations parking lot haha. Luckily I have been reading tons on the drz. I remembered one guys thread about running out of fuel, but being able to tip her down on the clutch side to get the last of the fuel over to the petcock. worked like a charm!! had enough fuel to make it up hill to the station beside my office.

It was a good day, and another learning experince. The icing on the cake, I still got in before my boss so it was like nothing happened
if yer binders ain't squeakin, you ain't tweakin!

Someone at the gas station flicked my kill switch while I was paying for gas. Bike wouldn't start... check sidestand, check clutch, oh must be kill switch (very funny). Flip, press, start, off I go. I've had that trick played on me too many times to fall for it.
