Newbie with a 93'GS500

  Okay Im not new to bikes but this is my first time on here and my first Suzuki. I oicked up a 93 GS500 up for almost nothing, how ever the guy that had it took almost everything off that could be. So I will warn you all now I will be asking alot of questions.
  So on to the first question,Rear fender, does the sub fender need any kind of bracket or support or does it bolt to the frame of the bike and what years will work on the 93?
