I'm VERY new to the motorcycle world and I have a "new to me" 1993 GS500E.  I just wanted to say that this site is really amazing!  There is so much information, and knowledge on these boards that it's heaven sent.  Seriously, this is a tremendous resource for me and I'm glad it's here.  That's all I wanted to say.  You all will see me around the boards. :)

Agreed, the team that runs it and the elite members give us a lot of experience and knowledge, a fair but of humour creeps in as well.

In Cricket the testicular guard, or Box, was introduced in 1874. The helmet was introduced in 1974. Is there a message??

Welcome to motorcycling and GS500.com.
As your passion for riding grows, be sure to check out all the resources of this site (maintenance schedule, "how-to's) as well as Pablo's page and Kerry's page.  Don't hesitate to ask questions, and use the "search" function, as many topics have been discussed at great length already and you can almost always find answers that way.
I ride an '01 with a few simple mods (progressive fork springs, jet kit, F1R Cobra can...) and a Yamaha V Star as well.  Right now, as there are about 13" of snow on the ground and still falling, so I'm "riding vicariously" thru this board! (Saranac Lake, in upstate NY)
Again, good luck motorcycling

I echo the praises...I knew I didn't know diddly about the GS until I discovered this haven of info...and its been a lifesaver in the few months I've owned my GS.  You all have inspired me to do more and more with my bike than I ever thought I would when I slapped down the cash for her.
I was talking to a buddy of mine this weekend who owns an 89 Kaw 900.  He is looking at fixing/modding his bike out and was insanely jealous that we have a resource and bank of knowledge for our bikes such as GStwin and its contributors...and he has none.  I just told him he bought the wrong bike....
Thanks again!  And happy holidays!

Thank you all for the welcome.  I'm still perusing the boards and just sucking up all the information I can.  I'm hoping to get some more road time soon.  But the freakin' snow storm has shelved those plans for a while :x   It's funny.  I just go and look at the motorcycle sometimes when I'm not riding it.  I'll even sit on it just for the hell of it.  It's official, I'm obsessed!  LOL!  I just bought a book on motorcycling by David Hough.  I read on here that it's pretty good.  I'll be reading it like a Bible.

Ditto, to all the comments about this site. I decided I wanted a GS500, found this site which confirmed my thoughts about the bike, and I'm now the owner of a '93 GS500E. :)
