Wow that looks good. How did you get that exhaust pipe to route so cleanly under the tail? Professional work or something you fabbed up yourself?

Really like the red hardware for accents. Very nicely done.
When in doubt, empty the magazine.

Thanks for all the comments and suggetions !
The bikes all seem to be a work in progress don't they ?
You look at the bike and think, I could always add this or do that and on and on .........
The exhaust we did (routed and tack welded) ourselves, we took it to a custon shop to have it TIG welded ($35.00). It's a combination of old mandrel bends we cut up and fit together.
We were going to make the can flush with the tail but were a little leery of the heat affecting the CBR tail light/turn signals molded into the tail just above the can. As it turned out there really isn't too much heat off the can. The pipes long enough, I think around six feet, the the heat dissipates well.

Finally have an update on the build.
By the way, that's a 01 Yami R1 race tail.
HJ and I rode the bike this last Saturday. Runs real good, a little lean high up, running 140 mains right now with the lunchbox and the custom exhaust. We're going to put in some 150 mains and give them a try. The bike sounds AWSOME !
Need to hide the rear master cyl etc with some expanded metal or perforated sheeting but....
One other glitch it seems the dual dominators pull a heck of a lot of juice when both are used as running lights so we're going to look at smaller bulbs, or running just one light and two for high beam.  Anyone else notice this with the dominators?
Anyway here it is so far.

f%$k f%$k f%$k that is f%$king nice

One thing that makes that front end look really good.

Is how the dual headlights are right below the gauges.

Never been a fan of those types of headlights no matter the size because people always put them just Too far down and just look Odd to me.

Those are Perfect! tho.

(edit)

how about some in depth details on the painting tho?

Really well done tail and exhuast.  Definitely a thing of beauty.  Curious though...where is your tailight and signals on the back?  I also agree with the person that said the exhuast should be shorter to be flush with the end of the tail.

mab32

The paint is Just duplicolor flat black on the frame, I have no illusions of longevity but it's an easy touchup. The deep red highlights are again duplicolor, works well and takes the heat.
The tank and tail were done by a custom painter, coats of black and seven coats of clear.
Relatively inexpensive and gas proof.
I'm really not sure what paint brand he used.
The turn signals on the front are the GS500 rear turn signals, on the back it's a CBR600 LED intergrated tail/turn signals built right up into the end of the tail, just over the can.
I'm going to throw on another set of GS500 rear turns for the back, they look fine.
It's got a GSX-R shock, the forks were modified by inserting 1-3/8" delrin spacers and using 20wt fork oil. The suspension is firm.
Got a new Shindengen r/r and the Shorai lithium battery so we were able to fit almost all the electrics in a Suzuki GT380 battery box we modified to fit the frame.
It's still a wait and see situation with the Shorai battery, it works, theres plenty of power but new technology like that is still NEW technology. Don't want a fire under my butt.
I need to tell everyone that if it weren't for the expertise and 30 plus years of experiance of my friend this bike would not have happened. He's the kind that can see a wiring harness on the floor of a shop and tell you what bike it came out of.

Nice job.

I've been running Shorai for quite a while now in all my bikes. I don't know where a battery tender is - I just don't need it. also using the MosFet regulators in all bikes. Good combination.

Also I added the single LED battery status indicator. Its a nice easy idiot light to show battery status and that the electrical system is A-OK.

Adidas... Do you have a write-up on that battery status led?

Nice job mab32.

Couple of questions.  What's the spread of light like with those Dominators?  They're not too focused dead-ahead are they?

And, did you need to modify the subframe to get that R1 tail on there?
If you can't be a good example, at least try to be a horrible reminder.

Here's info. I like it because it is an idiot light. No need to try to read a volt meter while riding. All you care about is good, bad, charging, etc.

It looks fantastic.  Very nice job.  I agree that the exhaust should be set back a few more inches.  The all black front forks look so sweet and witht he red accents, takes my breath away.
Cheers.

This is just awesome. I have a 1992 model with which I want to do something similar, and this is an inspiration.
