I've just bought a (edit) non-running GS500, and I'm in the process of carb cleaning and valve check...when I found that the spark plugs were "JR9B"!!  :cookoo:

Why the hell would someone use this spark plug in the GS500? Is there a possible damage caused by them?

Quick google search shows references to these in the gs500 ... Mostly used for gsxr units though ...

It was most likely another 'this will be better cos its in faster bikes' moment? ..

Has your bike been running badly or idling issues or something? ... Would think if it was still purring ok then the plug can't be that evil for the bike?! :dunno_black:

Thanks!
I forgot to say in the first post that the bike is a "non-running"! I will edit my first post...
She haven't said Hello to me yet... :-)

The gap in this spark plug seems to be 6mmedit 0.6mm or less!! I saw the reference on the NGK site, but that was just a page of specs which tells me anything or less...I would like to be sure before I hit the "start" button!!
