Ok, this is one of those times that I let my Noob flag fly.

What's the actual benefit of using an aftermarket exhaust?  Aside from it being all shiney and new, and that it looks cool on the bike.

The main benefit of using an aftermarket exhaust is that it is all shiny and new, updates the look of the bike AND it sounds a little cooler.  Seriously, those were my reason anyway :)  To note, the stock can is kind of a boat anchor...when I removed mine and installed my Yoshi I was quite suprised at the difference in weight, I didnt realize how heavy it was. Given I've done the can, jets and filters...its by no means any faster, it just sounds and (most notably) responds better in my opinion.   If you have the extra cash and plan on keeping the bike for a good few years I'd say its worth considering.  Plus its fun to do upgrades like that :D

Oh and congrats on the purchase Wildcat ... be sure to post pics and your thoughts once you get it all done.  I'm pretty sure you'll be happy  :thumb:

I have been thinking about buying a yoshi slip on for awhile now. Where did you order it from? I found it on ebay for just over 300 with free shipping.

Not sure who you were asking, but I got mine from ebay ... I kinda lucked out, mine was an open box but unused and I got it for $220 (I haunted ebay for almost 3 months).  I've seen the SS for new as low as $281 and as high as $349.  But if you are cash strapped and aren't in a hurry keep looking, I've seen them used but in good condition for as low as $200 and you might get lucky and find a cheaper used or open box one.

I ordered it from ebay from seller "worldwide_motorcycle_equipment" which is affiliated with http://starcycle.com

291.20 + 22.38 shipping = 313.58 total for me.

Bought it mostly for the looks/sound/feel combo. The stock exhaust makes me sick just looking at it.

Sweet looking forward to this as I'm looking to do the same on my GS.

WINNING! Got my exhaust installed today. I thankfully had this done at a local bike shop. Even though many on the boards say this is an easy DIY, the shop said it was a total ***** to cut the oem pipe and to get this to fit perfectly. Totally worth the labor charge in my view.

The pipe is loud, and nice. I removed the baffle as well. It seems like I have more power at the ready in the lower gears. It definitely vibrates the bike more, and seems more lively, which is fine. Also, "loud pipes save lives" - although this isn't Harley-loud, it is probably 2x louder than my oem pipe I think. It sounds/feels/goes really nicely!

Now for pics:

And don't mind my dorky khakis - I was coming home from work:

Nice work, looks great.  This is that one upgrade I've done as well that I have to admit, was most happy with mainly because it really updates the look and sound of the bike.  I can't remember if you had said you were going to get jets and a filter?  If not, think about matching an inexpensive Buddha jet kit and K&N with that and it will smooth it out real nice  :thumb:

Do you have a part number?  I went down to the local suzuki dealer and they looked at me like a dog looks at his master when confused.  I was told that yoshi dose not make parts for our bikes.  totally no help at all.

anyway, love the bike!

Peace out girl scout,
