Hi guys, Ive just bought a gs 500 of a friend of mine and i want to fighter/ built it up a bit.

(I would put pics but i cant get them to work properly :/)

I'm in the process of deciding what i want to do with the rear end, i would love a SSSA and tail conversion, anyone know of a tail that would accommodate 2 up? I still want to be able to take pillions or luggage on long journeys as i am a student and will use the bike all year.

Appreciate any help you guys can give

Something i forgot to mention as well, its an E (96) not the newer F

Your student budget will probably fall far short of the amount of money it will take to do a SSS and tail conversion, unless you are taking mechanical/machinist/bodywork training and can play with it there. As the only person I've ever seen that put a Honda VFR400NC30 swingarm on their GS500 said, "It wasn't a bolt-on"

What's wrong with how it is now?  I don't know about the sss.  If you're set on what you want and don't mind the ups and downs of making it work, then I'd love to see it.

Don't let anybody shoot you down on what you want to do, but make sure you think it out first to avoid possibly ruining your bike.

There is nothing wrong with the rear apart from the fact i'm running a 120 front with a 130 rear, i want to make it my own bike, one that will stay with me for a few years as  have only just got my restricted licence (UK people know what i mean)

I've seen a few posts on different sites saying its almost a straight swap if you pick the nc23 swing arm, its 195mm wide which is close if not thinner than the gs frame, i just wanted to know if people on here had done the conversion.

The main reason why i wanted to do the conversion is because i think it looks amazing on a gs, it sets it apart from any bike, i don't want my gs to look like a normal twin, i want it to look like a bike that's had some thought put into it, that's what i love about bikes, you can make then anything you want with a few parts, maths and time... much better than the 4 wheels alternative :)

If any one knows of people who have done the conversion i would be happy to hear any advice they've got.

I've only seen one GS500 with a single sided swingarm. It was in Germany.
