A few hose routing questions (CARB equipment)

I'm working on getting rid of the heap of useless CARB hoses on my new-to-me GS500 (especially useless due to the fact that the evap can is gone...) and I had a few basic questions.

First, how much air is pulled in through the upper T atmosphere vent on the carbs? I don't see a filter on any of the diagrams I've found, but would it benefit from having one? There's currently a UNI foam filter in there so I assume it's pulling a lot of crud into the engine anyways though.

Also, my gas tank has two lines in addition to on/res. I believe the large straight one drains rainwater/extra gas that gets around the filler neck, and the small curvy one is the overflow line, where other non-CARB bikes combine the two. Is this right?

And if the previous is correct... I assume the CARB bikes don't have vented gas caps and use the overflow for venting as well? Bike Bandit has the gas caps as different parts.

Thanks in advance.

Straight tube on tank next to fuel valve is overflow/water drain around the gas cap. A hose snakes down to the bottom of the bike for drainage.

Curved one is for CA models and is for an evaporative canister. You can cap off that line.

Cool, so the CA gas caps still have vents in them so I won't have to worry about tank venting?

I do not know the answer to that. Perhaps a California member can answer it.
