Doing some research, care to share your views?

Post-secondary school is about making connections. You might think it's BS, but the most successful people are History and English majors from small liberal arts programs with strong ties to their graduating class. For those of you who had the choice between two seemingly qualified job applicants, which one would you rather hire ~ a complete stranger or someone you know ? You would give the person you know the opportunity first.

Connections are no substitute for competence, but the competent person with connections is far better off. Plus, student associations like fraternities teach you how the adult social system functions ~ doesn't mean you have to like it.
