HEY Y'all, I'm still around.

So far I still have the house and equipment. So I can still do the advancer mod.
But for the newer style ignitions, your best bet is slotting the screw holes to move the ignition plate 5 degrees counterclockwise. I've tried modifying the rotor, but I never got a chance to test it out myself and feedback was not enough to feel confident it worked.
The original style ignition with a single tab on the rotor and twin pickups, is no problem modifying the rotor.
The cost has gone up, like everything else. I'm asking $10 for the mod and shipping from here is around $6.50. Still the cheapest performance mod around. The original V&H advancers went for $40+

NOW, just so you know. I'm self employed. This time of year I have to work my ass off to make enough to survive the slow winter months. I've been working up to 3 different jobs a day
7 days a week for the last month and a half (I guess that's a good thing).
I come home pretty beat, so I don't bother checking emails or responding quickly.
This must be a problem for some, since they never follow through after I get back to them
with my mailing address and relevant info.
So just be patient, I'm old and tired and I don't like writing anything when the brain ceases to function. Send me a email bobbroussard@x.cx
I'll get back to you. Once I receive your rotor I make sure it gets done right away, no matter
what. So don't worry about having your bike inoperative for longer than shipping time to me and back. A week or less from the time you send the package, depending on location.
If you're out of the country, we just need to recalculate shipping cost.

Bob. Thanks for the reply. I'm also self employed and was forced into it due to the crumbling economy so i full understand where you are coming from. I work many long nights and weekends to get my work completed and try to get caught up. It gets old fast but at least we get by.

Mine is an 07 with an 05 engine. $10 is nothing. I can run a mill and lathe and weld but I just don't know what I'm doing when it comes to modifying these.

With that being said, if you don't mind, I don't mind sending you an 07 rotor (not like the blown engine is going to miss it anyway) and reporting back how it feels. If it makes any positive difference then its well worth it. If it makes none then I lost a McDonalds lunch or two. No big deal there either.

You can send the rotor to me at;

I did a couple in the past, but I only got feedback once. The guy couldn't tell if it made any real difference. I've had motors with the new ignition, but I replaced everything with the original style ignition so it would work in my bike (89). Therefore I've never been able to test things myself.
Not alot of GS500s around my town.
It would be great to give it another try.

Thanks Bob. I'll have it out to you in the next day or so and the money will be in the box
