Does anybody know if the GS500 valve shims are case hardened or through hardened?  The reason I ask?  Because I don't have any shims, but I do have a surface grinder.  I just don't want to grind on them if they are case hardened 'cause bad things happen if you do.  :dunno_black:

Why not just buy one in the correct size and eliminate any risk/doubt.

If you cant wait for it to arrive surface grind one face of the original shim and fit it with the ground face against the bucket.

Good suggestion.  No dealers in my area and just trying to avoid outrageous internet shipping costs.

I've been wondering the same, I to have access and a few spare hours of a night at work.
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

where I get mine.

Not too bad on price if you know what sizes to order that you need.

My plan is to bring the bike in to work on a Saturday, do my 4 hours, and then get the boss to let me adjust the valves and grind the shims in the afternoon.  It seems like I could get them exactly where I need them to be that way instead of getting them close, because a certain shim isn't available.

I just like using the surface grinder.
