Shipping Fairings / 500F Conversion

Not sure this is the best place to post this however I did not feel it fit anywhere else. Anyways, I recently did the F to E conversion and now I am interested in selling my original plastics, headlight, mirrors, etc. however as some of you may have experienced....its big and bulky! I know people say to keep the plastics for re-sell purposes but frankly I am tired of storing it for one and for two, I will run this bike till the wheel fall off and then some.

Now for the acutal purpose of my post.....

Has anyone dealt with shipping the side fenders (plastics) off of a GS500F? How is the best way to go about it? Attempt to find a box? Wrap it in brown shipping paper? Any suggestions?

Also, how about the front fender and headlight assembly? I imagine I could just find a box and send it in that.

Any suggestions about be greatly appreciated.

It'll ship like any other part. Find a box big enough, and use enough protective packaging materials to ensure the part makes it safe and undamaged.

Don't forget to add extra insurance! UPS defaults to $100 on each package, but more can be added at a reasonable rate. I normally try to insure it for the price of the part if bought new from the manufacturer.

Same here. BIG box and bags of packing peanuts.
Insure it.
Double box big stuff so box doesn't get crushed.
Pack parts with other parts separated by a wrap of bubble wrap. Nest them inside each other.
Heavy bracket & all the bolts go in a separate box. Heavy bracket moving around inside could break plastic parts.
Put all clips, plastic fasteners in baggies and make sure they don't get lost. Taped to the inside of a plastic piece helps insure they don't get lost.

and if you run out of foam pnuts, should be plenty, PLENTY of old newspapers out and about
