Theres a hole in the motor

Okay, so not IN the motor, but on the cover. My g/f was practicing riding on my GS in a cul de sac near home. She tipped the bike over, I restarted it and thought nothing of it. Kept going. About an hour later I noticed I could see something spinning in the motor and it made me a little worried.

As far as I can tell it must be some kind of plug or cap for the motor. I haven't been able to tell if it fell into or out of the motor yet. But I rode it about 40 miles since I noticed it, so I'm thinking something bad would have happened by now if it fell INTO the motor. The oil level is fine and it does not appear to be spitting oil while the motor runs.

I can't find this on a parts fiche. I'm hoping I don't have to replace the entire side cover but it looks like I might need to.

So, any insight as to what this is?

The emblem has been gone for a long time without the hole being there. It's not just the emblem I'm missing. The emblem had fallen off last season when a friend of mine dropped it. The hole is brand new as of last night.

It looks like no. 11 is the part I need, thanks guys. I looked quick last night and didn't pay enough atttention to see that was seprate from the motor cover itself.

There probably was tape or something over it.
The hole is always there - that's how the part is made. Something was covering it over.
Normally the emblem covers the hole.
Use tape or anything until you get a new emblem.
You may opt for a new cover, too, just to make things look all pretty again.

Thanks!!

It's also worth it's weight in gold. I've had a similar cover on my GS for 2 major crashes and it did an amazing job of protecting the engine.
