Sadly, I have to let my bike go. Another case of not enough time to work on it and nowhere to store it. I figured I'd give GS500 lovers a shot at it first, before I put it up on Craigslist.

I purchased the bike as a starter bike in September 2010. Since then, I have ridden it fewer than 200 miles. It has sat in a friends temperature-controlled garage ever since I purchased it. Sadly, the friend is selling his place and I don't feel like spending $1200 a year to store a bike I don't use. The details and a picture are below.

1996 GS500e
VIN: JS1GM51A 9T2100379

Here's the original Craigslist post from when I purchased the bike in 2010:

Quote96 GS500 with 4500 miles on it.
Still has good tires and brakes.
Freshly painted sunset orange metallic and freshly painted exhaust.
125 mains, 40 pilots. Kit by The Buddha on gstwins.com

Only damage is on the right side of the bike on the ignition cover (cracked) and some light scuffing on the right mirror. Dropped it ~3mph in leaves before it was painted.

This bike is a great starter bike and a great commuter ~50-60mpg. Very light and nimble bike. Runs good.

The bike does not currently run. The battery is out, and by this point the carbs probably need a good cleaning. I think there's an issue with the vacuum seal, as well, b/c the last time I cleaned the carbs and charged the battery, it had no pull. I believe them to be simple fixes -- or you could part it out. It needs a new choke cable -- or for it to be heavily lubed -- as it was sticking previously.

It's a very clean bike. The previous owner bought it for a project and was very handy. It's cleaned up nice and has a brand new paint job (see pic below).

The Blue Book for the bike is just over $1200. I'm willing to part with it for $500 or best offer, because I need to be rid of the bike ASAP.

I'm in Washington, DC. Please email me at anthonywilson36@gmail.com if you're interested.

That is NICE!  Loving that color.  Hate to see you have to sell it.  My bike had similar issues when I got it, and a couple of weeks of steady tinkering got it running right.  Wish I was closer, I'd help you trouble shoot it so you can ride it instead!
