OK so I am rejetting, got the kit, read up heaps, all was going well, untill a i lost one of the springs that go between the needle and the plug thingo above it..... heartbroken I decided to rig a pen spring to fit it.... while pushing the plug thingo back in, 2 of the 4 prongs that hold the plug thing broke, just snapped clean.

I am soooooooo angry right now and you guys are the only people who could have ever been in the same stuation........ bikes apart, looking for parts online right now

Hmmm alright might try that.... its back together now till the parts come in... unless I get more free time before then......

Thanks for the help though, I thought I was gunna do it all on my own, had read most of the forum threads on it and like 2 pictorials.... had poor man's guide open on phone while i was doing it.... then (aside from the float bowl screws), my only f%$k up was losing a tiny tiny spring, and snapping a piece of crap plastic..... so angry.

But thank you again for providing me with some relief (i tried pliers but couldn't get it..... didn't think of vice grips)

momoboy

I read your post and know EXACTLY how you feel!!!  I just rejetted last week and I lost the same spring!!  I thought about using a spring from a pen but decided to do to Home Depot and buy a magnetic tool (looks like a swiffer) and just waved it back and forth over my garage floor.  20 minutes later I found the spring.  I also stripped some screws and used vise grips to get them off.  There were times I doubted myself and thought I should have never tried this.  Well after doing all the work, putting everything back together and hitting the starter button it was all worth it.  Started right up, idled perfectly and drove even better.  More responsive and sounds great (lunchbox with Yosh Slip On).  Take a deep breath, don't beat yourself up.  It is truly worth it.  The bike will run better and you will feel good that you did something yourself.

Thanks momoboy, needed to hear that. I will try again when the parts get here (finding the spring isn't an option, trust me). Parts on there way so shouldn't be to long. Bike is together, looks like it would run... hahahaha lol. But thanks again, hopefully I will feel just as good in the end.

I've found the float screws only come out with a good quality ph2 in perfect like new condition. anything less, they strip. Same story on the fzr. which is maddening.

JIS heads in the carb screws, in fact there are JIS heads all over every Jap bike!!.....Its been mentioned so many times in this forum  :dunno_black: Why do people continually struggle with these and go on to feck them up????

Do what the pro`s do get a set of these and use them instead  :D

So got some vice grips... most came out easy.... but... there is one last screw, that just wants to f%$k with me, and the vice grips have almost stuffed it... any other options? Or keep trying?

Have pic but don't know how to add pics from my phone directly

Carefully drill it till you can pull the head off. Then once you have removed the part the tension on threads of what's left of the bolt should be gone so you can just about unscrew the remainder by hand. Had to do that with one of mine.

No offense, but get a friend with experience to help you.  Seriously.

Doing this wrong can get you hurt when you're riding it.

This thing works like a charm on those soft screws. Btw I broke one of those tabs when I shimmed the needle- $50 later I had a new piston in the mail. Luckily for me I only broke one tab so it would still hold the needle in place Untill the replacement arrived.

The Buddha

Drill or cut a slot in the head, and use a flat head screw driver ... if it shears off fold the other side over and grip it with needle nose ... I've drilled and cut depends on location ... why you think I charge $5 extra when jetting for each one I gotta drill or cut ... OK fine $5 seems like a bargain to you now, but well, I am setup to do it quite well and mentally prepared too anytime I see one of these carbs.
Cool.
