I just did a front fork oil swap, and changed out one side of the fork.

Put the thing back together, thought i was ready.. but then I noticed that the wheel is actually kinda "to one side" of the center of the front fender.

I'm not sure if this is normal any more.
Given that, due to the brake mount, it seems like it woud HAVE to be closer to that side(?) I'm not sure whether I did it wrong any more.

Anyone got a picture of a clean, "good" front view I could compare to please?

It also seems like my handlebars are not "perfectly" aligned with the direction of the wheel. Just a little off, a few degrees.
I'm presuming this isnt something HORRIBLY HORRIBLY wrong, but something that I can just live with.
(then again, my handlebars are bent anyway, so its probably just that ;)

I should mention that the little spacer in the right fork is sticking out the outside about 1-2 mm.
That matter? Should I force it to be flush?
I thought that tightening the bolts together, would make anything that needs to, be together.
But I torqued it up to 40Nm like spec says and it didnt go any further in.

(it was a bit of a pain getting the axle in again, with the wheel on it. It was real easy when I tested it WITHOUT the wheel. But the wheel = painfully irritating. Had to pull the fork a bit forward to get it to line up)

Loosen the fork brace when putting the wheel on. The fork bottoms need to be free to rotate a little for perfect alignment.

Mmmm. I did loosen those things one time, when I was messing with things. but now they're tightened up again.

For other folks who may not be aware: here's my project thread:

okay, here's hoping I neither kill myself nor damage the bike...

When you get home, I suggest you loosen the fork brace. Loosen the axle. Get that right side spacer in where it should be. let things settle in and tighten back up.
Sounds like the wheel is not bent - which is good.
I think you'll be OK.
