does anyone know if a center stand from a late model bike, say a 2006-2010 would fit on a 1992?  physically they look the same in pictures but they do have different part numbers.

tialloydragon

I have an '05 on my '90 and it fits.

thought it would, thanks for the reply, anyone else?

I found they are the same. Height possibly could be didfferent by a quarter inch or so. Nothing where I have noticed it or been concerned which is which when I put GS's together.

Side stand: Now that " don't know why the new one is shorter. The suspension and frame are the same. I do notice my 2009 leans much more than the older bikes. Makes me want to prop up the 09 with a block under the side stand to make it the same height as the older one and see if it leans the same. Seems to lean too much when on a slight hill.

new bikes may lean more because the forks and shock don't sag as much

adidasguy

Nope. Not the forks. All my bikes have 0.85 springs. All nave new stock rear shocks.
The side stand is a different length. New ones are shorter. That's the question: WHY?

I read twice somewhere deep in the threads on here (I think in a FS post, and some other random one), that some folks GS' got blown over by the wind.  Both were older bikes... maybe some connection there?  But either could of had a cover that acted as a sail, or parked on a hill with wheel turned to right instead of the proper left, or some other loss of common sense scenario  :dunno_black:

Hmmm, I have racetech springs and the Katana 600 rear shock. My bike sits quite a bit higher than stock and it leans SO much on the side stand.

How much longer is the old side stand? Maybe I need to buy and old side stand.

I really want mine to be longer but I'm not keen on cutting and welding it like in the tutorial.

I saw adjustable side stands on ebay recently.  They weren't cheap, but neither is your bike falling over.

All the adjustable side stands I've seen are for when the bike is lowered.

codajastal

Yes they are stock height and only for adjusting down. Want a longer side stand the use one off the earlier models as they are longer.
