Have run into a problem

Way back a couple years ago, after I had an accident which did a number on my fairings, I decided to convert my bike from an F to E. I searched everywhere for a stock headlight and brackets but there was nothing to be found, so I went with and aftermarket light and brackets instead. I have these type of brackets:



What I noticed about these brackets, is that there's no proper holes in which to mount the turn signals. How would I go about mounting the signals? Do I need to come up with some makeshift method of doing this?

Limitless possibilities, my friend. You could get a piece of scrap metal to put into the furthermost hole (presumably where the headlight mounts as well) to drop the location 3-4 inches and then mount your blinkers there. You can mount them from the handlebars, I haven't seen that on a GS but I definitely like the look on cruisers.

Its just a small plate with 2 holes in it mounted to the fork bolts.
Ill take a better photo in the daytime so you can see.

How about mirrors with signal lights in them ? Gets your signal lights higher up where oncoming traffic can see them better.

I already have a set of nice round SV650 mirrors, and trying to not spend too much on what seems like a simple problem. Adding some sheet metal plates to where the headlight mounts seems like the best option.

Sounds good :) Do you have an aftermarket headlight? Which size bolts did you use to install it?

Those brackets you have do have holes in them. Won't turn signals mount there?

The holes seem like they would need pretty big bolts to keep the signals in place.

I used those same headlight brackets on my bike when I mounted the F headlight to my naked bike. The turn signals will mount fine using the holes already in the brackets. Just use a fender washer under the nut. Picture this (outboard to inboard of the bike): turn signal stalk, headlight bracket, fender washer, nut. A second fender washer may be needed between the stalk and the bracket depending on the diameter of the stalk. I don't have that setup anymore, so I can't take close up pics for you. Also, codajastal, why did you choose to mount your indicators so low? Just curious.

Low? They are in fact exactly the same height above the road as the rear ones are. I swear this is true.
(If you look at eye level from front or rear they are same height as others.)

I meant low in comparison to the stock location for the front indicators. Your first picture shows the stock location to be intact (on the left side anyways).

Correct. The front turn signals are in line (sort of) with the head lamp. They will be higher than the rear turn signals.
Where Coda mounted the turn signals is where the OEM front amber reflectors go.

(I chose to do it and made a conscious decision to bastardize my bikes and use Harley stick-on fork reflectors. They're cool. Harley people appreciate it.)

Ahhhhh! I get it now :icon_lol:
They are there because for some dumbass reason they do not fit where they are supposed too?
I have no idea why but I think PO had damaged the headlight and surround at some stage and now the blinkers stalks are too long and hit the headlight shell.
