The rubber bushing and bolt are where you have bailing wire: on the right passenger peg where the exhaust bolts on.

A couple more recommendations for you to make life a little easier.

1. Familiarize yourself with the parts fiches for the GS500 over at Bike Bandit or a similar website that sells OEM parts. They can make it a lot easier to visualize what isn't right, where something goes, or to request a specific part in a WTB post.

2. Pick up a Clymer's or Haynes service manual for the GS500. Shop Manuals are readily available on ebay, too, but the shop manual assumes you have a bit more working knowledge than the Clymer's & Haynes manuals do.

I have to admit, the stand looked a lot more complicated than i imagined.
