So when I bought this bike, the chain looked horrible.  I mean, it was coated in so much black, gritty, greasy gunk that I couldn't tell if it was rusted or even what color it was.  While at work, I spotted a can of "Dupont Motorcycle Degreaser for Chains and Sprockets" on the shelf.  After only one application of the stuff (and a little scrubbing with a stiff-bristled brush), it looks like I have a totally new chain!  I wish I would've taken a before pic, but I had no idea the results would be so dramatic.  If anyone is interested, Walmart sells this stuff in the motorcycle section, right next to the Dupont Teflon Chain Saver chain lube.

The results:

Again, the chain was totally black, gritty, and gunky before I used this stuff.  There ARE still some kinks in the chain, so unless the lube gets to them (this chain CLEARLY has not been cared for), I'm going to have to replace it anyway, but this is definitely a product I'll be keeping around.

Kerosene in a spray bottle and an old toothbrush is also good for cleaning up your chain on the cheap.  :thumb:
