Hi. just picked up an 02 GS500 and am looking into doing a performance exhaust and jet kit. It already has a drop in K&n from the PO. I live in NM where its 4100 ft above sea level and i ride the twisties on the mountains where its 8800ft above sea level. So im wodering if anybody has been there done that and can tell me what jets they would recommend for my application. I runs great now but from what the plugs look like it seems to be running lean.

Stock jetting is actually well suited for high altitude since it is on the lean side.

Both my stock 97 and my stock 02 GS500s were happy up to about 6500 feet in the Smoky Mtns, that's about the highest there is east of the Mississippi.  Never touched the jetting on either.
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

Hmm. So i can add the drop it K&N, bolt on a performance exhaust and wont have to rejet due to my high altitude.....

You will have to rejet for that.  Maybe just not quite as large of jets as others doing the same thing.
