I wasn't feeling well to begin with, so I called a sick day when I got home and my husband and I spend a good chunk of the morning messing with it to figure out what was up. The tank isn't rusted - the bike is an '08 so still fairly new. Because of the plugged jets last time, we took off the fuel lines, and petcock, cleaned them out just to be sure (the petcock was a bit gunky). We did try idling it at Res, Prime, etc. to test things up.....The tank was running a little low too - I apparently didn't take into account that highway kms sip the gas whereas in town, the gas just guzzles by, and the bike doesn't get anywhere near the same mileage. I think it was a combination of me being a dumbass no0b and needing to top up the tank (it idled MUCH better on res! - some days I feel like such a non-mechanically-minded girl! I'm rather embarrassed), and the grubby fuel petcock. Seems to work fine now! All in all, not a bad way to spend a sick day! Note to new riders: Check your gas often or just be aware of your kilometers/miles since fill ups, (especially if you don't have a low fuel light like most of our bikes!)
Don't argue with an 18wheeler.
