Bridges

Wasn't sure whether or not to post this in general discussion or here, so meh.

Grated bridges. These things still scare me half to death, and I ride over one twice a day. I avoid them at all costs if it's been raining.

Anybody have some interesting stories about them, or any words of advice of how to get over the fear of these things?

Simple: do not do anything.
Ride straight.
Be loose on the handle bars.
Consistent speed.
Let the bike do what it wants to do.

The bike will want to wander a little - that's OK. Just let it do it. The bike will keep going straight. Don't try to correct for it. Bike will wander left and right a few inches. That's OK and normal.

After a while you will start to ignore it and almost enjoy the feeling of floating around.

adidas speraketh the truth. ive ridden grated bridges on both my motos and bicycles and motorised bicycles. this applies to all of them ( whad adidas said ) you CAN slow down if you feel the need to. but like he said, consitant speed. dont change

so what happens if you do change it?
fall over? highside?
spectacular pirouette?
