Hi everyone. Nice place for some info. With this forum's members help I have brought a poorly maintained bike back to life.

Picked up a 1993 gs500e from Craigslist for $650 a month ago. The girl had dropped it at 25mph and scared her. It sat for 6 months at her apt complex. Somewhere in that time some phx punks tried to tale the gas outta it and ripped all the gas lines and vent lines off from everything. We carried her home and navel jellied the tank, rerouted all the missing lines, pulled the Carb and fully disassembled it and cleaned it. Changed the oil/filter/plugs/air filter and got a new back tire(old one was worn only down the center) . And adjusted the chain, it had over 3 fingers deflection when I got it!!.  So now she runs good but needs some more work, valve adjustment, Carb sync and and damn good cleaning..

Some info about me...
UTI diesel student moved wife and me down from girdwood,Alaska until I graduate on November 2013.  Suffering the heat for a change in financial life after school. I ride the gs 14 miles to and from school daily..
Looking forward to cool forum..

Welcome to the armpit of hell my friend. PHX az im assuming. i went to MMI on deer valley rd there in 2001,2002. lived in apt complexes on bell rd mostly. finally at a nice complex on deer valley toward the end. i would drop in on uti sometime s to collect spare parts no longer needed for sculptures etc. valves timing chains etc was  afun place . NOW about this place. if youve got a question, dont be afraid to ask. you WILL get hte obligatory " search noob" shaZam! from many folks here, dont let em rattle you. all in all this place is one ginormous albeit sometimes dysfunctional family. btw idk where youre living at, but even where i was at theft was common. put a good lock on bike, chain it to something. a tree, a pipe, a flagpole, something. not trying to scare you, but PHX when i lived there was hte meth capital of hte us lol. everythign was taken that wasnt bolted or cabled or welded in place. ( park bike in front of car turn bike perpendicular to car, thieves will usually avoid this. becomes a not so easy target. also get a disc lock, puttag on key, write disc lock on it. so you dont ride off or try to  with lock in place. anyways, sorry about the long winded welcoming speech. but welcome aboard. enjoy the ride, and hope you decide to stay
