I "learned" how to drink beer with Busch Light. I do admit that at first I found the taste disgusting until the 3-4 beer. After a couple years though, I look forward to the taste of a beer.  And I don't know how much truth there is to this, but I've heard that beer isn't *truly* imported, it's just brewed here under foreign supervision. Which would make sense to cut down on shipping costs and make sure batches of beer didn't go stale waiting to get over the big pond. Anyways, that also makes sense which would account for the different taste of the same beer in another country. Canadians says Buttweiser tastes a lot better there than here in the U.S..

Quote from: 70 Cam GuyI hear that the Guiness here in America is sh*t compared to the Guiness on the other side of the pond.  Can anyone confirm?  My guess is its a matter of freshness and maybe some preservatives

Guiness, like most european beer makers that sell to the US, pasturize their US bound beer, which kills a lot of the flavor, making it not nearly as good here as there.

Any watery beer will do ... cheapest is best ... Old Mil, Busch Light, Mil best etc ...
Canuckisthan ... ha ha ... I used to call it Can-adia like India ... but I was recently told that the large number of Indians in Toronto was flipped on the west coast by large chineese population ... so west coast is China-da.
Cool.

I don't drink much beer (one a week, tops), but when I do it's gotta be:

1) Guinness
2) Murphy's Irish Stout - if I can find it.

Something for the Guinness fans out there:  try a 50/50 mix of Vanilla Pepsi (reg or diet) and Guinness.  Don't laugh... it is actually very tasty.  Vanilla icecream and Guinness is also very good.

P.S. Does anyone have a GOOD Guinness punch recipe?  The ones I have tried are waaaay too sweet and completely drown out the Guinnessness.

I don't like Guinness.  I'm not sure how anybody could.  I think people that drink Guinness are drinking it so they can say they like Guinness.

Have a pint of piss warm Guinness and chase it with an ice cold Bud Select.  If you say the Guinness is better, then you are full of crap.

another vote for guiness.....love this Guiness joke as well

The leaders of the big beer companies meet for a drink. The president of Budweiser orders a Bud, the CEO of Miller gets a Miller, the head of Coors orders a Coors, and so on. Until it's Arthur Guinness's turn. He orders a soda.

"Why didn't you order a Guinness?" everyone asks.

Guinness replies, "if you guys aren't having beer, then neither will I."

from the lighter beers it's:
Baltika
Pilsner Urquel
Grolsch

 I don't like Guinness or Bud Select. Bud Select, to me, tastes like puke. But to each his own. Guinness is definately different. It was the first and only stout beer I've ever had. Maybe I'm missing out, who knows, but it definately did not agree with my taste buds.

Any quality lager served nice and cold makes me happy.  My rule of thumb is if it contains anything other than water, hops, barley, and yeast, it sucks.  (this is the law in some countries)  Most American beers use rice as the primary grain because it's cheaper than barley, and this is why they taste like toilet water.

This also means I don't like ales even though they are the trendy thing to drink.  With a few exceptions, ales taste like fruity crap to me.

I usually get either:
Warsteiner
Heineken
Sam Adams Boston Lager (I admit I like the summer ale too)

When I want to get drunk I get:
Miller Light
PBR (not too bad for $12/30 rack)
