I'm looking for one of those shinny aluminum knuckles/lever set/pivot???  from the older GS's  This is the part where the rear shock and dog bones hook up. I'll also need it to contain the bearings and collars. From what I understand these are compatible with all year GS's? I think it will go nice with an R6 shock I'm installing. Let me know what you have.

Thanks

That's not the aluminum one he's looking for.
FYI: The dog bones are the same with either knuckle.
I've been collecting the aluminum ones for all my bikes. Looks soooooo much better! (And they fit the same). Not sure if I have any spares.
This is the aluminum one:

Wow....never seen one of those. Although I havent had a lot of bikes. THX for the pic

The aluminum one was used 1989-1990.
The shock for 1989-90 is not the same as 1991+. The length of the part that bolts to the knuckle is longer on later shocks sue to the increased size of the material at the mounting point. Newer chocks compatible with aluminum knuckle. 89-90 shock can't use the newer knuckle (I believe Costa found that out a few months ago).

So I assume the only benefit here is weight reduction? Cant be THAT much can it?

I find the benefit is they look so good compared to that thing with black paint.
Never forget the cool factor for any upgrade!

Hmm....sorry ti Hijack here but Im going to use this as a learning process.

Are they compatible with the R6 shock? As far as pretty, I want to powder coat all my pieces as soon as i decide on the colors

I do not know as I don't use R6 shocks.
They are compatible with the steel knuckle. If the steel one fits, these will fit. They fit the same.

Ah - I found my picture of them side by side.....

Only one way to find out. Send me one and I'll slip it under my cherry 2011 R6 shock and we'll see :D. Imagine lifting up the skirt of a purdy GS and finding that down under. Like GS porn.

Are you using the original GS500 knuckle? If so, it would fit.

Yes, I have a stock 2006 F. As long as the aluminum knuckle is the same width as the steel one it they should fit. The R6 shock is the same as the rest. Just has a different rebound and compression adjusters. I can't find a pic on the web of it. I'll post up a pic as soon as I can find my camera (wife used it today for my sons first day of school). I already test fitted it and now I'm just waiting on the bottom bolt collar from the Yamaha dealer.

Edit: fount a pic on another thread here on GStwin.

If you get it all put together with the stock steel knuckle, let me know and shoot me an offer. I seem to have found a couple extras.

pliskin

Will do. I've got a lot going on with my bike over the next week. Installing the shock, new tire, and I checked the valves and one is out of spec. so I'm letting the shop fix that up because I don't have time to get the shim tool and shims before Ocean City, MD bike week. I was just taking a shot in the dark to see if anyone here had the knuckle that I could get my hands on quick so I could get everything back together and tested before I ride it 200miles to the beach.

It will be in today's mail. You'll have to clean it.
Also you'll have to remove the dog bones. I didn't have time to grind off the dog bone bolt to get them off.
