Exhaust Issues... need some advice.

Hey folks.

Lately my GS has been sounding a little bit louder in the higher revs (over~5000 rpm).  This morning I think I observed the source of the problem.   In that short period of time right after startup that the exhaust is visible, I noticed a small stream escaping from the upstream side of the can.  I hunkered down under the exhaust to have a look, and sure enough... ther's a tiny (~2-3mm) hole in the exhaust.  It looks like a wear issue... nice smooth edges, almost a perfect circle.  Im pretty sure nothing catastrophic happened.

so is there anything i can do about this?  Are there sealers I could try?   The bike just broke 10,000 miles, so I was planning on getting another season or two out of this pipe.

also... the guy I just bought the R6 from is throwing in his stock pipe with the deal.  Any thoughts on whether or not I could get that to fit on the GS?

peace.

Is it the little hole that shoots straight down from the pipe? That's normal, that's supposed to be there; I have that on my bike, also.

so what else could be causing the increased noise above 5k?  the header bolts are tight, and I haven't observed any other exhaust leaks.

thanks for the hole info scracth.  I was wondering about that.  There is always a mist that pours out of that on cold mornings when I rev it while warming up.  Could that be a bad thing or just normal?

normal ........ thats the hole that lets water out so it doesnt rust your pipe
going fast isnt the problem, its the crashing and burning that hurts

What does the sound sound like?

it just gets louder than crap very abruptly between 5 and 6krpm.  It actually sounds pretty good if you asked me, which is to say, it doesn't sound like the exhaust fell off, just like it opened up.

also, vibrations increase significantly.  Mainly I feel it in the footpegs... not so muchin the handlebars.

Sorry, I hadn't replied yesterday, I got busy at work.

If I remember correctly, there are others that get that buzziness in that rpm range as well, so I'm hoping that it's normal. Your bike probably just got broken in, and now she'll be like everybody else's. I want to try to find that thread, though...

Other than that, I don't know...

I just hope everything is alright. The bike runs fine, ya? If so, it's probably normal.
