Gonna put a couple questions into one here. First of all, got a Drag Specialties mechanical speedometer. Says it needs a 12mm top nut cable. When I bought the bike the ATV speedometer they had on it(gears stripped when it went past 60mph or whatever), but that speedo and my new one both appear to have the same hookup.

So, is the stock cable on a GS have a 12mm nut on it to hold the cable into the speedo?

And second - my current cable doesn't spin. I need a new one anyway (the nut on the end disappeared....). If that doesn't fix it, I would need a new speedo pickup thing in the front wheel right?

Thanks in advance guys

IDK about the nut size but I have a front axle speedo with speedo cable attached and have the speedo gear in the engine also if you need it.

Pull your cable all the way off and spin it by hand, watching the other end to see if it moves. If not, voila; it's a broken cable. If it does move, there is a problem at the wheel pickup like you said. The last time I took my wheel off to remove the fender, I didn't push the speedo cable in all the way at the wheel pickup.
