I'd suggest having the banner made from fabric with screen printing like a real flag.  I doubt it would be very expensive, and it would be a lot nicer for pictures and packing back into the baton.

I haven't read the whole thing. However, shouldn't we have an accurate map of where everyone is located to determine what type of relay is best?

OooooKKKkkkkaaaaayyyyyyyy.
I see none of us in Washington or the half dozen of us in West Seattle are there.

If you want to take the reins on the banner that would be ok with me bomb. From making a few runs of shirts with my friends shop. i remember it being pretty expensive to make 1 screen for 1 shirt(or banner) due to graphic artist's time, actually making screen, setting up screen on press, etc..

If you find a place at a decent price i'd be down to chip in!
if yer binders ain't squeakin, you ain't tweakin!

There are holes. Mostly out west. The Midwest, east coast, and south are good. West of TX, not very much interest with exception of some LA and WA.

Was hoping that it would pick up, but this far not really out west.  We can start, and if it dies in TX, then so be it. Was under the impression mostly that once this takes off, more would be interested.

I see a certain blond cave dweller has not even made an entry on the map, can't complain if you don't play   :flipoff:

I see some people from out here posting to the thread but not to the map, if everyone posts to the map I am sure it would look better. I have to admit I could not figure it out the first time I tried to post, and I have been in IT since the early '90s!  ;)

Not obvious how to add myself to the map. So I'll just go ride one of my bikes in the rain.

MAP UPDATE!

Great idea Tom!! I went ahead and setup a GS Twins route planning map through google.

Instructions:
Its pretty damn easy to draw your spot on the map. First start by clicking the RED Edit button near the top left. Then either right click and click 'draw shape' or in the top left corner you have 3 buttons with the third being a drop down, bottom button in its drop down is the draw shape. Draw your shape by clicking the points(points can be adjusted afterwards as well) after the shape is drawn, add your GStwins user name in the shape's title.

It may take a second for the shapes to show up. I've set the map to full public access, but let me know if you have problems.

Link:

If you browser freaks out when you try to draw your shape(like mine the first time), just close all google map windows and reload.

This is how to do it Mr. Adidas.

I don't understand the map, but that's nothing uncommon for me and maps  :embarrassed: seems to be a few highlighted area's over bowling green ky for what ever that's worth.

While the map is not perfect, it was the best use of free resources at the time. As its grown, so has its complexity.

Wayne, feel free to add to the map if you wish. Otherwise, we have down that you are from Bowling Green. That's where they make corvette cars, right?

For a short run of shirts they can be made without a screen now a days. They actually have inkjet style tshirt printers that come out really nice. I'm pretty sure that's how a lot of those online stores can sell weird 1 off shirts so cheap.

Yeah, I just went on zazzle and made the nicest long sleeve they sell with my forum name and gstwin.com on front and the banner on the back. $30.00

Would need a higher res pic if you wanted to make the.

Oh i was not putting the map down by no means, just saying I must not be the best at understanding maps. Yeah bowling green as the Corvette plant and Corvette museum.

No problems Wayne.  I have to justify every cent, every person in my group, and everything every day at my job...I guess welcome to 2013.

Any more on a banner?  Bombsquad? Steezin?

At this point, don't care if its vinyl or some sort of nylon. Would like it to be somewhat resistant to moisture. It will get wet, I'm sure of it.

Now, if it will ever warm up!

I'm right near Toledo, Ohio i could do a short leg, don't have the experience to trust myself on long runs. Bike isn't going yet though, if I could get worked in some how that would be sweet.

I have been looking into custom bandana size banners.  I think it would be more than I'm willing to spend at this point though for just one of them.  Maybe someone knows how to work an angle and get something like that for cheap.

Toledo is pretty far north from what I remember... like almost Michigan, right? ... so if I'm thinking right, you could possibly pair up with kbankovi and hit michigan for us since no one has posted from that area yet.  Just a quick thought after glancing who already had coverage in northern ohio.

Yes, Toledo straddles the OH/MI border right off of I-75.

Edit:  If nothing else, I can take the image and go to one of these photo printing places and have it printed on some sort of vinyl or nylon material.  IIRC, it would be like $15-$20.  Not a bad price.

Steezin, let me know what you think, and I can place the order for the banner.  I don't want to lose sight of this.  Spring is right around the corner!
