I can print and laminate a banner 8.5x17 for $5. We can do it any size, but that will give us a shorter baton and still be big enough to see in photos. Put a couple of ties on the corners to string between the bikes and voila.

I can have it printed and laminated by the end of this week, got a stack of some shims for ya too jester(more than you probably want, bit I don't need em haha)

I'll modify the image to 8.5x17 and post a photo of the test print tomorrow

MAP UPDATE!

Great idea Tom!! I went ahead and setup a GS Twins route planning map through google.

Instructions:
Its pretty damn easy to draw your spot on the map. First start by clicking the RED Edit button near the top left. Then either right click and click 'draw shape' or in the top left corner you have 3 buttons with the third being a drop down, bottom button in its drop down is the draw shape. Draw your shape by clicking the points(points can be adjusted afterwards as well) after the shape is drawn, add your GStwins user name in the shape's title.

It may take a second for the shapes to show up. I've set the map to full public access, but let me know if you have problems.

If you browser freaks out when you try to draw your shape(like mine the first time), just close all google map windows and reload.

I'm right near Toledo, Ohio i could do a short leg, don't have the experience to trust myself on long runs. Bike isn't going yet though, if I could get worked in some how that would be sweet.

Toledo is pretty far north from what I remember... like almost Michigan, right? ... so if I'm thinking right, you could possibly pair up with kbankovi and hit michigan for us since no one has posted from that area yet.  Just a quick thought after glancing who already had coverage in northern ohio.

Yeah I'd be down to pair up with someone, I just glanced at map back on the first page looked like it cut close to Toledo.

Test print of the 8.5"x17". The final will be laminated and string/nylon rope instead of rubber bands. Thinking of getting some sort of metal grommet for the string holes as well. Do you all think ties on all 4 corners would be better than just top 2 corners?

Always open to suggestions, my printing guys are ready to laminate once we get the go ahead from everyone.

I've been having some difficulty finding the water proof tube mailers. Anyone had any luck? Would like to find one like Jester had posted earlier.

Most of the time they want you to order a lot...but I have found a few where I can just buy 1.  I can take care of the tube Steezin.

I like the banner.  Grommets on all 4 corners is nice.  2 are fine too though.

Been busy lately, but want to get this sent over to my printers by the end of the week. Is everyone OK with doing an 8.5"x17" laminated banner with ties to hang on the bikes for photos?

I'm definitely open to other options. This is so cheap I won't get butt hurt if we find something better after i get it made. Haha well.. I just answered my own question. I'll send it off this afternoon and will post photos of the final!

One more weekend shredding in WV, then its full throttle on the moto. I'll be the only one in town the first weekend of april so i'm hoping to get some serious time in the shop.

That works for me, I am sure I am not alone when I say that I appreciate the work you are putting into this..

+1.  Although there is snow on the ground in Ohio, Spring is almost here (well, technically it is, but you know what I mean).

Ship it along with the shims.  I think you have my address.  Just be sure to let me know what size shims you need too.

More than welcome gents!  Getting stuff printed w/laminate is easy peezy for me since its what I'm doing regularly anyways

Delivered with the rolls of paper this morning!!

Final dimensions came out to be 10.5x19.5. A bit bigger than I had planned, but i didn't take in to consideration the lam overhang to seal the paper in and get the grommets on. It rolls up fine and fits in my 2" diameter test baton, but a bit bigger diameter baton might work best to keep it from being a curly Q when we unroll it for photos.

I'll get it and the shims to the post today or tomorrow Jester!!

Now to finish the damned gs :2guns:

I'm in Columbus,Oh and could ride to Cinci to hand off to jestercinti.

jestercinti

We have a tube/baton.  It even extends.  Trash picked at work.  I think it's intended use is to hold blueprints or some sort of legal documents.

Baton looks good, and free is the best number there is out there!

Update on the banner - The laminated version ended up being really shitty. Lam kept coming apart after being rolled.. So i've ordered a 1'6"x3' outdoor heavy vinyl banner from vista print.  No grommets in the corners on this one, it comes with free clear adhesive hangers that attach on the corners though. It was a bit more expensive, but i think it will hold up better, also look better in photos. Along with the banner i snatched a ink pen with the same banner image on it for signing the baton spreadsheet!

Website says the banner has been produced and is shipping now. I'll get some photos when it arrives

Got a few more bits in the mail for the GS, I'll be wrenching all weekend on her this weekend. Still need to get more jets and a new battery, but pretty much have all the needed parts purchased

I guess I should have paid a little more attention to this thread. I do graphics work for a print shop and we have the capabilities of printing banners and such! Oh well, maybe next time!
